What is the Best advice you've been given?

My Dad always told me that if someone didn't like me it was their problem not mine. He said just remember you are better then they will ever be.
I highly agree with your dad. I had a friend that stop speaking to me. We were friends for about 40 years. I understand she was not in a good place in her life. A lot of times, people look where you are in your life and they have issues with it.. that's the best way I can put it. Something she has to work through. I can't work through it for her.

don't eat the yellow snow. :ROFLMAO::LOL::sick:

avoid debt and save for emergencies. Avoid credit cards.
I have to admit, I do have credit cards but I will be paying them off. I have about 5..LOL Hear me out..LOL One credit card company dropped close my account because I have not used the card in years, one I never activated and one, I do not use. Therefore I have (2) but I am on a mission to pay them off and try my damness (oops can I say that) not to use them again. I do not need a lot of debt in my mature age of 60..61 next month. Long story short, I was definitely ANTI-Credit cards but they helped to increase my credit score.

If it were not to millions of people who just pay the minimum amount on their CC balance, a small percentage of us will not enjoy the perks the banks hand to us. There is a wealth of info on www that we can learn from.
Google is my BFF. I would be the small percentage that you would not enjoy the perks. I try to triple my monthly payments..keep down the interest. Good info.. thank you.

The problem with playing the credit card game is that most intend to do as some have written above, but enough fail to do so that the lending institutions come out on the winning end.

Which brings to mind another excellent piece of advice I was given. This one was apropos of casino come-ons, bank come-ons, deals too good to be true, and other s of that ilk.

My father used to say, "They don't build the canneries for the benefit of the fish."
I agree. That reminds me of the Lottery as well. I will get out of the credit card game. I applied for the cards to increase my credit score.. which helped a little. I had (5) but down to (2) - one I was not aware it was going to be a credit card..long story. I did not activate the card, hubby paid cash for our furniture.

With due respect, prior to covid19, those who know how to use credit cards wisely and responsibly would not heed this advise.

I used to avoid CCs until I found flyertalk forum which discussed the ways to make money on CCs. IOW, I made money from the banks, I have not paid a penny interest to any bank. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one in this forum that knew this.
I have made money as well. However, they have made $$$ from me with interest. My goal is to pay my CC down and try to not carry a balance.

Can I ask what are the Trolls?
In internet slang, a troll is a person who starts flame wars or intentionally upsets people by posting inflammatory and or off-topic messages with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses either for the troll's amusement or a specific gain.
That's probably why politics are not permitted on many forums. Sometimes, disagreeing with someone or saying anything negative is misinterpreted as trolling.

Reminds me of the daily News.. Has a lot to do when my sister was tragically killed almost a year ago.
