It has been well into the 80sF in my house this summer. I use a little window AC when it gets too hot for me and hope it doesn't trip the circuit breaker.
It sure is. At this stage of my treatment for prostrate cancer I get powerful hormone shots every six months that take my PSA and my T level down to zero. The specific version of prostrate cancer that I have is a very vigorous, dangerous one that feeds on PSA.May I ask is it a hormonal thing with you?
Thanks for this, Camper!Quick conversion estimate for Celsius to Fahrenheit. That you can do in your head.
Take the C and multiply by two and add 30.
Not one hundred accurate conversion but close enough.
18 x 2=36 +30= 66F
When it comes to temperature can anyone feel one or two degrees different than actual?
I like warm temperatures so I'm still comfortable at 85 or so. I don't have air conditioning. Just a ceiling and window fan.
Winter for me is an exercise in survival tactics. Low humidity. Always cold unless I get the humidity up.
Please don't mention the S.A. winds by name. They may take it as an invitation....I dread when we have periods of the Santa Ana devil winds because they are like a blow torch and the house must be closed up 24/7.
That's when I'm most grateful for central AC.
It only occasionally gets hot enough and stays hot enough for the house to be uncomfortable. Most evenings it starts getting down into the 70's by about 6 or 7 so we can open up the house and cool it down before going to bed.
However there are nights like last night were hit was still in the 80's outside at 9 PM so the house was probably 85-90 by the time we went to bed. We definitely used the bedroom AC last night.
Also most mornings it's in the 60's but this morning it only got down to 72 so the house is still rather warm. It's supposed to hit somewhere around 101 today. I'm not looking forward to it.
Hubby was just telling me last night that one of his co-workers said they keep their a/c on 24/7. I can`t even imagine what their electric bill must look like. We never leave it on overnight. We do sleep with the windows open and have a door out to the side yard,so this past (hot) week we have been sleeping with the door open.We are going to put a security screen on it once we close escrow (in the next couple of weeks) but don`t want to do it til we actually own the place. So the other night, hubby was soundly sleeping and I was awake listening to a bat screeching outside the door.I finally got up and shut it because I kept picturing it flying in and landing on my head lol. Think I`m gonna pick up one of those screen thingys you can put up-I think it velcros on.
I keep mine on 72 degrees all summer. My electricity bill for this past month was $65.00.I should mention the security screen we are going to install is not for security from humans, but to make sure we don`t have raccoons, coyotes or mountain lions enter our bedroom.Oh,and now bats....![]()
That's not a bad bill for having the temp at 72--I had mine at 74 and my bill last month was 72.00I keep mine on 72 degrees all summer. My electricity bill for this past month was $65.00.
