What is the oldest item you own or have in your house?

I hope this isn't a repeat thread but saw this on another site and thought it was interesting. The first item I have is a Baptismal certificate which was my Grandmothers dated 1898. It is all in Czech but I was able to make out the date. I wish it had been taken care of properly through the years but sadly it wasn't. I have a large collection of old cookbooks. The White House Cook Book is dated 1913. The small one,Dainties for Home Parties is dated 1915. The cover is in excellent condition because someone valued it enough to put a paper book protector on it years ago. People just aren't interested in cookbooks anymore but I still cherish my collection and do read them.bapttismal certificate (800x600).jpgcookbooks (800x600).jpg

Seriously, I am the oldest thing in my house.

That's pretty cool Ruth :) Since all my crap burned down with my house last year.. I also am the oldest thing in my house :D

No idea what's the oldest. I have an antique silver lamp that was my grandmothers, and two antique coffee grinders.

I have small items that have been passed down from grandparents on both sides, a knife, a plate, a wall plaque etc, that I will give to my children and grandchildren.

My mother saved family letters. I have a box of them that creates a timeline dating back to the 1870's. The handwriting and language are so different and so eloquent when compared to tweeting! It is a treasure trove of personal/family history.

Parrot in Cage

A small ivory pendant, featuring a parrot in cage, bought in Berlin around 1945/46.
Don't know its age or value, but treasure it all the same.

The one last chair from the dining set that was in our home since I was a kid.

It sits at a window and Dino likes to sit on it so he can see out and watch for , need I say it?.......CATS.

I think the oldest item I have is the first tooth my daughter lost, but I'm not saying how old it is .....:biggrin-new:

An oval bone china lidded container, Oriental style, which contains dried rose petals of various ancestor's wedding bouquets. Dated approx 18OO.
