What is the purpose of this glass fish?

It's in 2 sections and about 5 inches from nose to tip of tail and the main part is 3.25 inches in diameter. It's hollow, but the glass is very thick.

If he had a string at one time, he would float in a small glass fish bowl as a decoration.? Maybe too heavy for that.

@debodun It's a vintage trinket dish made by Anchor Hocking. There are a few on eBay

With my bad eyesight, I missed the Anchor Hocking stamp on the bottom. I did find this same item offered on ETSY and eBay and they also identified it as either a trinket holder or candy cup.

In the end, I suppose it can be used to hold whatever will fit in it.
