What is worth doing is worth  overdoing

Never heard it before here in UK

I have heard

1 If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing well

2 ..., it's worth doing yourself (or "theesen" = the proverbial/ stereotypical Yorkshireman's indication o a) not trusting others to do a good job and b) diy is always cheaper)

What is worth doing is worth doing well (at at least as well as you can) - yes that makes sense,

What is worth doing is worth over doing - no, not really. Most things that are worth doing also have limits to them and over doing doesn't make it any better and often worse.

I've also heard the phrase, What is worth doing is worth doing poorly.

It's supposed to be an encouragement for perfectionists who can't get started.

Overdoing something seems bad by definition. You're doing something overly much, whatever that means.

It seems more like a playful phrase to encourage enjoyment to the fullest. Overdoing pain and suffering doesn't sound wise.

I havent heard that but seems along the lines of "Perfect is the enemy of good."

meaning people put off doing something because they wont do it perfectly when good would be good enough and is certainly better than nothing.

Another phrase I just heard...
Repitition is the mother of learning'

reminded me of elementary school..
that 'we'(students) said out loud 'the times tables'...
Boy! did that 'drum it into us'😉

What is worth doing...
is worth  overdoing!

I don't know..

What do YOU think?😉

There's no need to overdo it if you can just manage to do it right the first time. However, I can think of a few things that are quite pleasurable that are worth overdoing. What are they? 🤔 I'll let you figure that out! 😊

There are people who like to overdo things they enjoy. Those are the ones to whom it would appeal.

Those of us who do everything in moderation find that expression appalling.
I agree. I can't help but look at it in that way unless I'm misunderstanding the quote in the first place?

I always heard if it's worth doing it's worth doing right.

Another one was if you want it done right do it yourself, implying nobody can do it exactly the way you want it but yourself.
