What is your mindset?

Mr. Ed

Be what you is not what you what you ain’t
Location
Central NY
Do you prefer taking shortcuts even though there may be risks involved?

Do you abide by the book, earning your way on good merits alone?

Do you cheat when the opportunity arises?

Do you feel victimized by government or society?

Do you think you deserve more than what you have?

Do hold on to your resources or do you share?

True or False: People get what they deserve?

Life is not fair and people don't always get what they deserve.

Yes, I share with others when able to do so because it makes the world a better place.

And yes I do feel victimized by the GVT right now because of the pandemic but that could get political so no comment beyond.

- Never

- Indeed I do

- In fun I have been known to (i.e., game time, etc)

- Yes and yes! I best leave it at that though I could a whole lot more

- Yes absolutely! Hard work doesn't take on as far today as it once did back in yesteryear

- Hold on. Charity begins at home

- False

Fun thread, Ed!

I don't take short cuts or cheat. Especially in my job. My brain was wired from a young age that all was my fault so I have to do this, that and more of both or I will be in trouble.

I believe I deserve every bad thing that has happened to me.

1/. It depends what you are referring to. I sometimes go over the speed limit. I sometimes cheat on a diet.
2/. Nahhhh. What fun is that?
3/. Not intentionally. Define cheating and about what?
4/. Sometimes but mostly by my own doing
5/. No! I’m grateful for everything I have and then some .
6/. What resources. More context is needed. I’m exceptionally generous but I also love my privacy.
7/. Not necessary! People die from accidents everyday. Do they deserve that?

I've done it
Not usually worth it

'The Book'
as in The Bible?
If so, no, no earning
It's just a better way

By the book, as in taking proper steps, like instructions?
Usually
Sometimes there are better ways

Do you cheat when the opportunity arises?
These questions are rather broad, so I'll just narrow this one down
No

Do you feel victimized by government or society?

Not at all

Do you think you deserve more than what you have?
Heck, I don't even deserve what I have
It ain't much, but I live in a wealthy country, where excess seems the norm
I don't do well with excess

Do hold on to your resources or do you share?
I've shared when the need has become evident

True or False: People get what they deserve?
False

There is no deserving

Wrote a thing to wunna my nieces;

' .....because I deserve to be happy'

I just read a lengthy paragraph of a young lady seemingly on the edge.
It’s a wonder more of today’s generation isn’t ODing on drugs if they all think this way.....

I don’t preach. Not my place.
But, I’ve been around awhile, and here’s what I know;
Happiness is attained by contentment
Contentment is attained by satisfaction
Satisfaction is attained by hard work...a job well done.

That’s all

Simple as that

There are no epiphanical moments where a fairy poings you with her wand and everthing is all better

There is no deserving

There is earning

Nothing else

I’ve had to learn this the hard way, by default actually.
Never checked my happiness gauge, just looked for fun.
Had fun.
No regrets.
But fun by itself becomes quite empty.
Empty as a cavernous, bottomless ever hungry void.

Want ‘Happy’?

It’s yours

For the earning

Obviously I don’t know you but why do you believe you deserve everything thing bad has happened to you? In some ways I deserve the life I have including punishment I might receive but I don’t deserve bad things happening to me, no one deserves bad things in life.

To define bad things one must consider if bad things are justifiable by the results turning bad things into positive outcomes. Who but ourselves determine the distinction between good and bad?

Hitler may not have considered himself a bad man although the rest of the world may have difference of opinion. When it is all said and done it is what we think of ourselves that matter most.

Wife and I are nerds. We studied in school and never cut a class. We both worked full time and went to night school to change careers. In our careers, we did thousands of hours of OT (unpaid) to get the job done, whatever it was. We scrimped, saved, invested and lived below our means. We never missed voting. We've been involved in environmental issues since the early 80's.
Point is, you ave to do the work if you want to do decently in life and too many people have a 'welfare mentality'. So yes, often, you get what you deserve.
