I find it very difficult to form friendships with people who have addiction issues. I have sympathy for their problems but just can’t bring that energy into my life.

As a friend, I try to do what I say I’m going to do at the time I say I will. I don’t have patience for chronic lateness.

I appreciate a friend who has a similar sense of humor.

I guess my number one rule, when it comes to friendships, is not to waste your time on people whose company you do not enjoy. Friendships should be easy, enjoyable and non-profit making

It's kind of a standing family joke:
One of our kids might call DH and ask what's going on and he'll say something like, "We're standing in line at the grocery checkout - I'm emptying the basket while your mom's making new friends with the woman in front of us - you'll probably meet her at our next pizza party."
