What is your preference when receiving a gift, personal or household items?

My hubby and I really don't exchange gifts anymore. We buy what we want when we want it. Usually we celebrate whatever the occasion may be by going out for a nice dinner. When I do receive gifts, I prefer household items, although I do appreciate whatever someone gives me.. I'm probably the only one who can get really excited over a new kitchen faucet. My son is very good at giving me gifts I love. This past Christmas, he gave me very nice salt and pepper grinders with an assortment of spices. One year he gave me my very own tool box! I do like flowers now and then, a plant even better. What kind of gifts do you like to receive?

Well if it's someone I love ( like a family member) I like something they made themselves. If it's a friend, I like potted plants. Send me potted plants :p

I like plants, they don't last long in my house so new ones are always appreciated. Hubby's bought me some nice potted tropical trees over the years, love having them around, but I usually kill them with kindness.

If I had ever bought my wife anything "household" I would have quickly found it would have been returned in kind, like petrol vouchers or luncheon vouchers for the staff canteen!

Personal and frivolous and quality were the rules of thumb - perfume, jewellery, underwear (not red!), quality clothing (silk, cashmere, alpaca).

My wife was all woman, and expected to be treated as such!

Since I do alot of online shopping with Amazon, I have all my family giving me Amazon Gift Cards..What I really like about them is you get every penny from the card, not like ones that you only use part of the card and never go back to the place to finialize the card..Most times I would give the balance as a tip or give it to the person behind me at the register..

My husband usually gives me gift cards to my hair place. Am able to get the 'full meal deal', cut, color, highlights.
For him, Amazon gift card, Starbucks gift card.
Have learned over the years that that is what he enjoys the most.

I was a road warrior back when I was still working. I ate out 13 times a week, it has zero appeal to me now. I will do it on occasion as a treat for my wife.

We both like off beat small items as gifts, not expensive. She has a slew of inexpensive wrist watches, I have only one. I have a lifetime supply of t-shirts, mostly souvenirs from our travels. Very practical in a warm climate.

Actually, I may be the odd man out here because I don't really like receiving any kind of gift.

Wow Debby..I feel greedy now :). I'm always thrilled to get a gift. I respect your feelings, though, and just want to comment that I'd rather give a gift than get one...seriously. I've always been that way.

I'm not in need off any physical gifts so please gift me with the pleasure of your company. :love_heart: It is the most priceless thing you could give or I could receive.
