What kind of handbag do you like?

,,,also Marci.. you can get some really pretty backpacks as well these days... and they don't cost very much now either. I've got a theft proof one, and it has so many different pockets I can't even remember how many exactly.. it holds loads, it hardly cost more than a few £'s

I got one from the gift shop at work that has daisies on it. What do you mean by theft proof?

just that.. theft proof... meaning the actual zipper entrance to the main body of the bag is resting against your back and not at the front or side of the bag as they traditionally are....

lemme find an example..

some other styles have little combinations locks on them as well

here's another example as to the anti-theft backpacks, where the main body of the bag, and the zipper is against the carriers back...

That's neat.

Travelon Crossbody, theft-resistant straps and body.

It’s not too large so I have to be efficient.

I’ve had a few of this brand over the years. I’ve got this in one in a couple of other colours. I want to be able to spot it quickly when travelling.
I have that exact Travelon. It's my travel purse. Best yet, I got it for $1 at a thrift shop. Win-win!

I’ve got one of these and it IS a good looking bag. It makes me a tad uneasy tho given that someone could approach from the rear & rip the whole thing right off my back possibly taking my arms right along with it.

Just sayin’.

I have a PacSafe "money-belt"-like bag. It's just big enough to fit my passport, phone, credit cards and some money, but flat enough to wear under my shirt or I can extend the belt and wear it as a tight cross-body.

There are two steel cables in the belt and the clasp retracts into the bag. The zipper has a velcro flap over the end so it can't be easily unzipped. I use it frequently when I go somewhere with the littles so I can have both hands free.

It was another thrift-shop buy. I think I only paid a couple of dollars for it.

Currently these small Vera Bradley quilted bags are about all i carry. Ultra lightweight & they hold what little i need to carry.
Plus i live close to a VB outlet so can pick them up for a song😉

I used to love large Italian leather hobo bags. However, now because I'm afraid of having my stuff stolen ( due to increase of attacks by criminals), I opt for the smallest purse possible that I can fit my stuff in and with a very long strap so I can wear it across my body.

I like one with a over shoulder strap. I have to mention I saw a cop on TV once warn against cross body strap due to the damage to ones body if a thief tries to take it.
this actually happend in Spain near where I have my house...

I've told this story before..in fact there's 2 with regard crossbody bags which is why I rarely use them

The first story is about a couple of expats from the UK who had lived in Spain for 15 years always felt safe in our little town, and were walking home one early evening and she had a crossbody bag... when a bunch of robbers on mopeds grabbed hold of the strap of her bag and took off, and she was dragged at 30 or 40 mph along the road, before her bag strap broke.

She was badly injured, and to cut a longer story short, it prompted them to leave Spain for good...

The second story is about a friend of mine who lives near the city centre in a suburb.. about 10km from my village..again in Spain

She is a big lass 6 feet tall and no lightweight. Bright sunny hot day.. crossbody bag.. she has it crossed from left to right.. so as she starts to climb in her car. the bag is on her right side. and before she has a chance to close the drivers' door, a robber leapt over her to grab the bag but she was still wearing it, so as he hauled the bag out, she got dragged out with it...

Being as large she is, she put up a heckava fight and gave this robber a good smack in the face and bust his nose before he ran off , but she'd had to put up a real battle and she was only 45 at the time, so not old.. .. ... again like the first lady.. she was so shaken up by this attack.. it took her ages to get over it....she felt she could have been killed if he'd had an accomplice with him

Thank for those stories Holly, that was the sort of stories the policeman was telling. I like the shoulder strap but never wear it across the body.......I value my bod even if it doesn't value me.
