What kind of mattress do you like?

I have a very hard mattress..It works best for my back and hips.

I slept at mommas last night on a soft mattress.. and my hips are killing me.

I don't know how much of it is from sitting in a chair at Dr.s or the bed but anyway I thought I'd ask.

I think things get more inline with a hard mattress....

We have a traditional pocket sprung mattress which is fairly firm. It has the advantage that when either myself of Mrs. L moves or gets up, it doesn't disturb the other one. It does have two slight disadvantages... it has to be turned occasionally, (and it's very heavy), and it's not always easy to get deep pocket fitted sheets for it.

I bough a mattress at a local furniture store that was going out of business 4 years ago. It's a King Coil box spring and now it's so sunken down in the middle it looks like a hammock! I though I could turn it over, but the other side was worse with springs poking out here and there. No recourse, either, since the store is OOB. I looked at mattresses online and was shocked at how much the prices have gone up and so many choices - memory foam, pillow top, gel, latex, traditional springs, waterbeds, air mattresses....what to choose?

Guess you know why the mattress store is out of business, Deb!

Best money I ever spent was on a Tuft&Needle mattress four years ago. Haven't gotten up in the morning stiff and sore since the first night I slept on it. A few weeks ago, I made a comment on FB about T&N that they saw, and the next thing I knew, they'd shipped me T&N pillows! Ahhhh. My son told me a while back that the reason we're seeing so many of these mattress-in-a-box commercials is because Tempurpedic's patent ran out, and a lot of their people left to start their own companies using better technology. My grandson bought a Leesa two years ago and is as happy with his as I am with mine. DD and DSIL bought a T&N a year ago and are tickled that they finally have a mattress that provides a good night's sleep and has retained its shape. They aren't "dainty" people so have been through three other mattresses in the past 10 years.

Mattress-in-a box also. I have a Layla copper-infused mattress that I purchased two years ago. Just love it.
It has a very firm side and a softer side. I like the firm for my back. And it's nice and cool to the touch.

The best "mattress" I ever had was a king size water bed. That was so many moons ago but it was great for sleeping!👍

Now I have a pillow top mattress but don't recommend them. I don't think it would do any good to turn it. I'd rather have a regular fairly firm mattress that can be turned.

I got a Tempur Pedic bed 15 years ago - out of desperation. I used to get up every 2 hours & walk around to relieve back pain. I saw their commercial many times but didn't think it would help. It really helped - since then, I rarely have back pain.

Win231, I'll agree with you about Tempurpedic mattresses. I used to dog sit, and my favorite dogs to sit for lived in homes where the guest bedroom had a Tempurpedic! I also had one dog whose people had an iSleep (I think that's by Serta), and it was my all-time favorite. When I got my T&N, it was actually second choice to iSleep because the price of iSleep was just too rich for my pocketbook. Not sorry I got the T&N one bit.
