What Made You Happy Today?

This might already be a topic but let's open it again. As seniors, as human life forms...it's too easy to sink into the things that go wrong. But even just one upbeat thing a day, a happenstance, something that you were just in the right place at the right time. A surprise phone call from a good friend, the waitress who winks and puts down a slice of your favorite pie, the police officer who scratches your pup, your favorite coffee on sale...

What made you happy today? I'll start...I went to the yearly church rummage sale down the street. It's easy to avoid the clothes and knick knacks. We're trying to downsize too many clothes and knick knacks already. But the book room...just to look of course. They were waiting for me. All the books you can fit in one bag for three bucks. Best of all somebody had donated maybe 8-10 dog books...themed on pit bulls YAAAAAY and happy reading!!!!!

My daughter called to let me know she and her family are coming for Labor Day Weekend and we will be going to The Land Of Make Believe in Hope NJ which isn't to far from where we live. It is a huge water park now. The last time I was there my kids were about eight or nine years old. Nothing but swampy area with a couple of rides and a cookie house. That made my day. I also boxed up some craft supplies for the good will.. I use to do a lot of wooden crafts that my sister in law sold in her antique and collectible shop. People aren't into that anymore. No sense having it around.I was happy to see the free space it made in my storage room.

My granddaughter spent the night. I enjoy her company, she is always pleasant and just loves to yak. She brought so much stuff with her her Mom asked me if she was moving in. She is my youngest grandchild, only eight. It's fun to chat with her and try to look through the eyes of an eight year old!

Sitting down after lugging a big load of groceries in from the car. I can't imagine not having a car.

Ya know what made me almost wet myself today? My son came home from visiting friends in Pennsylvania. Before he left I said " Please if you can even get to one supermarket I will be so very happy". There are a certain raisin filled cookie that you can't find anywhere else. He brought me back a dozen tonight...now there are six.

If you know the cookies I'm talking about...is there anywhere to order them online?

I finally made it to being a strong average chess player thanks to watching Mato Jelic. He shows the great games of chess on his video series and I learn from them. Mato is Croatian but he now lives in Australia. Furriners can be helpful at times...

Friday morning here....woke up. Good cappuccino.

Yesterday husband and daughter came back from London and they had a great time. Before they came back I put my American friend on the ferry to catch the train, then bus to the airport as she is going back to London before going home.

Still happy about finally getting to Orkney! Working on a blog now and have uploaded photos to my flickr site.

Well, I had a dream that there was a hole in my bathroom roof and the snow was getting in. I was looking up through it when I wakened. When I realised that it was a dream, I was very, very happy!

Snow is a nightmare, not a dream! LOL. And it's very sunny now! :)

Happy I spent the day just hanging out with daughter and husband, and then our friends dropped by.
