What "Makes" a Pizza for You

For the best pizza, which is found in New Haven Connecticut, the oven has to be screaming hot.

"Coal-fired ovens burn around 600 degrees, making it one of the hottest pizza-cooking methods. The intense heat creates our signature crispy yet chewy crust that accompanies every Pepe’s pizza."

Other New Haven CT good pizza places besides Pepe's-

I make my own olive oil thin crust and for toppings usually use seriously sharp cheddar cheese along with black olives, sometimes I add green and red peppers and onions and sometimes add pepperoni. Usually use pizza sauce in a jar, sometimes make my own! 🍕

This looks a lot like Blaze Pizza. Super hot ovens and pizza in a flash (or 2).

I wouldn't want a pizza with any type of seafood as a topping. I know some like anchovies, clams and shrimp; not my cup of tea. I can tolerate pepperoni or sausage, but prefer all vegetable - green peppers, onion, olives, mushrooms, etc.

The pineapple and ham pizza is called "Hawaiian" in these parts.

Ive been to Pepe’s in New Haven..yum!
I think Chicago has the best pizzas..thin crust, deep dish or whatever. I probably ate the most pizza while living in Chicago.
Now I seldom eat it…but like it simple, thin crust and margherita style.
I don’t care for meat on my pizza and definitely no PINEAPPLE.

I make a lot of pizza from scratch, crust and sauce included. For me, the best pizzas are well balanced. The crust should be flavorful and chewy while also somewhat crisp, the sauce fresh and slightly tangy, and the toppings - cheese included - added with a light hand. Every ingredient's role is to enhance and complement the others, not overwhelm them.

Every bite should bring balanced flavor and texture of all components. I'm stingy with the sauce (one ladle-full is ample), weigh cheese before putting it on the pies to keep from adding too much, and am likewise cautious with other toppings.

When my grandchildren make pizza with me, they load on the pepperoni, but that's to be expected of youngsters. (I send them home with the leftovers.) 💕

I could do a clam pizza! I might even make one.
