What makes you nervous?

I wouldn't actually say I get nervous, but if I get an odd feeling about someone, I avoid them. That happened to me a few years ago, when I hired someone to clean snow from my driveway. I made him a cup of coffee when I paid him, and he seemed to be too interested in a few things in my house - since then he has been arrested twice, once for trying to steal from a local newly deceased widow, and once from a stranger in the closest village.

There are many Control freaks out there, too. I sure avoid them!

What makes me nervous? Good question, to be honest I am so full of medication nervousness is not an issue, however, my hands tremble so badly out of control you think it is caused by extreme nervousness. If my teeth chatter, that’s a whole different story.

Something on my calendar, anything at all, from a doctor's appt (little bit nervous) to a party (very nervous.) My only regular event is my monthly book club meeting and even after 20 years, I never sleep the night before.

The club has a Christmas party every year and I quit going because of all the anticipatory anxiety. Just last week my friend called me a Grinch for not going, so I told him I would go this year. I've already had two sleepless nights over it.

Yes, THAT makes me nervous. I keep my eyes peeled and ears tuned. I really should get a pair of snake leggings.
We have Eastern Diamondbacks here in my area. We also have Copperheads. I was bitten by a Copperhead (it was id’d by the Scoutmaster) while hiking with the local Boy Scout Troop back in 1971. We didn’t have cellphones back then, so the Scoutmaster sent another Scout down to the Fire Watcher’s Post to call for help. The Fire Watcher returned with the Scout and he told me he called for help.

The Scoutmaster was kind of a wimpy guy, if you know what I mean. I don’t mean to demean him, but I’m not sure how else I could describe his personality. He’s telling me to relax and don’t get nervous because it would make my heart beat faster and that would send the snake’s venom through my body faster. Three minutes later, he’s over in the bushes tossing his cookies.

The ambulance arrives about 45 minutes later with a trained EMT. I didn’t even know what that was. He’s telling me the same things the Scoutmaster did. I wasn’t scared or nervous, so I just laid there on the ground and when someone would ask me if I wanted anything, I would ask for water.

When I got to the hospital, luckily they had the anti-venom. It took only one dose to get my vital signs back to normal.
