what medicine reminders gadgets do you use and what do you think about them?

I live alone after my husband passed away though all my children who live far away want to move me to assisted living because I have BP and Diabetes. My MD prescribed 8 medicines i have to take daily (and I admit I forgot fairly often). My tech-savvy granddaughter told me she’s ordered automatic pill dispenser which will arrive in August. I heard the machine has built-in alarm and will notify me and my children when I forget to take medicines. Has everybody here had same problem or used this machine before and what do you think about it?

I had a device for a months meds...with alarms and reminders. With frequent hospitalizations and med changes it became more of hinderance. Now I fill a med box with my 26 daily meds. placing it in a basket, with my daily injections, beside my bed. First thing I do when I wake up in the morning is take meds and give myself my injection.
When I was a Hospice nurse I would fill med boxes for my patients weekly. There were a few diabetic patients that had problems with remembering their insulin. I would predraw their syringes and label them. When I went back I could see what they took and did not take. Perhaps your grand-daughter could do this for you? Or does she live far away also.

I don't have alarms or anything like that. I have 2 pill cases. One is white with the days of the week on it it big letters and the other is blue with big letters. I use the white one for morning medicine and the blue one for evening and night time medicines. It took me a while to get used to it but I found if I put it on my coffee table right in front of me while I'm watching tv I tend to remember to take them.

I have one of those compartmentalized pill boxes with four compartments for each day of the week. But it takes up a lot of room on the kitchen counter, so I think about going back to just keeping the pills in their bottles, which is what I do when I travel. I take two pills in the morning, the same two in the evening, and one of them at bedtime, so when I keep them in their bottles I just take the two in the morning, turn the bottles upside down on the counter to remind me I've taken the pills for that time, then when I take them again in the evening I put the one bottle away in the pill cupboard and leave the other one out, right-side up again to remind me to take that pill at bedtime.

I also set a reminder on my cell phone calendar for the evening pills. For some reason I never forget the breakfast or bedtime ones.

I have a 7 day plastic pill divider box, fill it every Sunday nite after dinner. No trouble remembering to test my blood or take my insulin. 20 yr long habit, that & my notebook

I have two big box-sized pill containers that have 28 pill slots. I use one for morning and one for bedtime. If it's a Tuesday and there are still pills in the Tuesday slot, then obviously I haven't taken Tuesday's pills. And, that way, I only have to sit down once every four weeks and fill my pill containers. The morning box sits on the counter in the kitchen so I can see it to remind me and the bedtime container is in the bathroom for the same reason. Works for me.

Don't take meds. For some reason, I don't need them for anything. I feel great for a 92 y/o guy.

Oops! Forgot; If I happen to have a bowl of chili before bedtime, I have some Tums next to my bed.

But that's a rare occasion; I'm learning.
