"What Mother Means" by Karl Fuchs

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers in the world...

"Mother" is such a simple word,
But to me there’s meaning seldom heard.
For everything I am today,
My mother’s love showed me the way.

I’ll love my mother all my days,
For enriching my life in so many ways.
She set me straight and then set me free,
And that’s what the word "mother" means to me.

Thanks for being a wonderful mother, Mom!

I wrote a poem for my mother. Sharing it here:

Mother

Thank you for being there when I needed you
All my growing years
Making sure my needs were met
Cooking delicious meals and
Nursing me through sickness.

Thank you for your guidance
Through the little things and the big things
In this often chaotic world.
Helping me to gauge what is good
And what is not.

Thank you for your steadfast love
That lit my world
When all around me failed me.
Your continual support and acceptance
Were beacons of light guiding my way.

Thank you for your forgiveness,
Even though, at times,
I felt I may not have deserved it.
Angry words can never be taken away
But your forgiveness soothed my soul
Teaching me to forgive others.

Thank you for your warm embrace
That wrapped your heart
Around mine and never let it go.
No matter where I go, you are there
Reminding me I am your child,
Loved and cherished.

No matter how many “thank you’s” I give,
I can never repay these tremendous gifts you gave me -
And from the bottom of my heart,
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
For showing me God's grace -
Lighting my lamp,
So I can share the light forward.

With much love,
Your daughter
