What Now? Do you make New Year resolutions?

Do you make New Year resolutions?

I don't, because I know that I will never keep them and
I don't like telling lies.

Do any of you make resolutions?

Do you keep them?

If I am going to do something different, I tell/promise
another person what I am going to do and that that
I won't let them down, because I always keep my word!

I wish that I knew that I could do that years ago, because
after smoking cigarettes for 60 years, I took a stop smoking
session with my Doctor's Surgery and promised the nurse,
Joice who conducted it, that I would never let her down,
I haven't smoked for over 3 years now.

Without any resolution.

Mike.

Congratulations on 3 years smoke-free!

Quitting smoking was a tough one for me and I still miss it but I have to admit I'm much better off without the cigarettes.

I still make New Year's resolutions but I don't announce them to the people in my life.

I do tend to keep them which probably means that I don't set the bar high enough!:playful:

This year is the last year of a multi-year resolution to reduce my possessions so I can fit comfortably into a smaller one bedroom apartment.

My resolution this year is to stop making lists of what I want to accomplish the next day. Usually it isn't possible to complete and then I get stressed out and grumpy. I generally don't make resolutions and I doubt I'd keep them if I did.

I do have a New Years wish though. My son is 44 and has not found the right one as yet. He works so hard at his cabinetry business and is a terrific son. I want him to find a good wife, maybe one who will help him with the business. I'd like to go to my grave knowing he won't be alone. He has many friends but I want him to find his soulmate.

Congratulations Mike on your quitting the smokes....kudos, I know it wasn't easy after all those years, Joice is proud that she had a part in your quitting! I don't make New Year's resolutions any more like you, they were either to lose weight or quit smoking. I never followed through with either for the new year. I quit smoking a long time ago after 15 years, and it was when I was ready, not the beginning of the year.

Good for you Mike and Sea with the non smoking! I'm 4 years free in March. I only miss it once in a great while.

I gave up making NY resolutions many years ago. I make some resolutions at any time.... sometimes I actually follow through.

Good luck to everyone with their resolutions and wishes! :love_heart:

Well done RadishRose and SeaBreeze and Aunt Bea for giving up smoking,
It isn't easy and for many years I tried but in the end it was in July, so don't
make big/or any resolutions that you don't like.

On the other hand and you can pass this on to your Grand children, "If your
dreams don't frighten you, then you are not ambitious enough"!

Mike.

Now that I'm 70 I just want to take each day and get some joy out of it and quit worrying about what I wanted to accomplish but didn't. I have time to worry about that after I'm gone. If I had time before I died to think about all I did I would want to know I used each day to just feel good and to share that feeling. That is new to me, because my main resolutions in past new year's or ever, was to improve myself in some way. That's still my goal in certain ways, but my main thing thing now is to open myself up for the time I have left. Old age if you're old enough to have reached it, is to enjoy life as much as possible. Don't worry, be happy. :) And, of course, don't sweat the small stuff.

It sounds easy, but to me this is a challenge, and I hope to meet it starting this year.

Yes I sometimes make New Years Resolutions but don’t usually keep them but I made one last year that I kept. It was to do yoga every morning if possible and I kept it.
This year I’d like to make another one and keep it.

Last year I resolved to start decluttering the house, one drawer, one shelf, one area every day, and I pretty much did it. I may have missed a day here and there, like when we were traveling, but I did it, except for the garage and the man cave, both of which are controlled exclusively by Mr. Crankypants. It was very satisfying, and I think I'll do it again this year. We spent 40 years accumulating stuff, and now I'll spend the next few getting rid of it.

Instead of resolutions, I write an annual summary of the significant events
and issues in my life, including a detailed health status.
I recommend that--years from now you will read it and recall what happened and why.
I have been doing this for a long time now/ keep it private and use abbreviations
or code if others should find it at home.

Mine, as well as hers, is to be better Christians and get moved to Colorado this summer. Without a doubt, I'll be a better person living back in Colorado again, than here. And, so will be my wife.

Well done mike......It takes alot of willpower to give up, ...

Ive now been smoke free since 9/3/1989, my husbands birthday......

No more resolutions for me, I take one day at a time, and live it as best as i can , since my husbands stroke 6 yrs ago ......
Bring on another year, I say.....This Stroke is not going to beat us ..!!.....
