What Packaging Do You Have a Problem With?

Some of these companies have "updated" their packaging to be more useless that ever before, IMO. I sometimes buy Morningstar Farms brands frozen burger type food. They used to come in easy to open boxes that were pretty easy to close back up. Now they are using these plastic type packages that instruct you to pull them open--which is hard to do some of the time. Closing these packages back up is nearly impossible, too, you have to line up the plastic and it's very hard plastic that just does not want to cooperate. I find myself griping in my kitchen when trying to get one of their burgers out of a package and resealing it--this time I just cut it open and tried my best to reseal it with a rubber band. I do have a hand injury right now which makes it harder but even before the injury I had problems with these packages, too. I wonder if there is somewhere to write to about them and if anybody would listen anyway.:cautious:;)

Have you had problems with any type of packaging?

Oh yes, and for some things I find myself taking them out to the garage so that I can use my tools on them. I am clueless as to how older disabled people could possibly deal with the quasi-vaults that are in use today as packaging.

It's sad that these companies probably don't even take those with disabilities into any consideration.

I've sometimes had to resort to use some of my tools on the packages, too.

Pop top cans are ridiculous--I do not have the strength to pop the top--then I try the can opener and it will not go all the way around the can because of the pop top. Bought a new electric opener and it does not work either!!
Yes, they are so hard to open, too. I had a heck of a time trying to open a can of iced tea the other day. Sometimes they also put some of these beverages in plastic bottles that are equally as hard to get open.

A lot of the "reusable" bag seals don't work so I end up needing a Ziploc anyway.
Or the packaging is so pathetic like chips...you gotta watch you don't rip the whole 🤬 bag open.

I had some gummies I was taking one time and the childproof cap malfunctioned and wouldn't open so I could get to them so I had to get the butcher knife out and slash my way in. Not an easy task.

The little cardboard zippers on the pizza box don't work. They break half way in. Those boxes that have the little thing you can open with your thumb to pour like the mac n cheese packages...require a knife.

Stuff I used to be able to rip open require scissors now. There's been jars I've almost been unable to pop the seal on and get them unscrewed to get into them. Smuckers jam...the canning style lid nearly did me in this last round. Trying to get that open plus a broken rib didn't go well. I almost had to go without jam for a while.

Unfortunately, the bigger influence on packaging is the actions of trial lawyers and jurists, who salivate at the idea of connecting a company's packaging with someone's misfortune. The litigious nature of society and growing inability to accept personal consequences has brought this on, IMO.

I hear you. These product companies don't seem to care that their packaging is so faulty and sometimes even dangerous. Having an injury only makes things that much harder.

Hard plastic packaging (in general)... the stuff that can open you up like a knife if you're not careful.

We have utility shears like Win, uses, and they make short-order out of all packaging.

That was us before we invested in a pair of utility shears.

Are you referring to pull tab tops? Would something like this help? This one is from Walmart and costs $4.
