What Part of Growing Older Irritates You the Most?

I've always been very healthy except for the last few years when I had to have Open Heart Surgery and Bowel Cancer Surgery (they did key hole)from which I recovered in a matter of weeks. I'm lucky I don't have any pain in the knees or hands and I do love to walk whenever I can. I'm a great believer in Apple Cider Vinegar, grated fresh Ginger, Turmeric and Cinnamon all mixed up in a glass of warm water, every morning before breakfast. It doesn't taste the best, but it seems to be doing me good. I'm now on my 3rd bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar, ( it must contain the Mother).

The best way to ;deal with hearing loss is put an ear bud in your ear and listen to some good music.

That person along side you won’t care as long as your nodding your head to the beat.
Copacetic works well!

My left heal is arguing with me today. I suppose tendinitis is a bite.

that's a heckava thing to go through in just one year .. 2 major medical issues.. wow, you must be made of strong stuff. 🤗

I avoid kneeling, I have had both knees replaced. I set off the alarm in the airport. I keep a small camp stool around for when I have to deal with something down low.

My lower back growls at me sometimes. It reminds me that I am the last person of my generation in the extended family.

When I drop something, I do not try to pick it up right away. I wait thinking I might drop something else, and I can pick them up together.

I'm with you Teacher Terry I'll be 70 in October, My daughter is 51 and it seems odd to hear her tell of her aches and pains of age and remember when I thought 50 was old and 70 was ancient.

I hate everything about growing older which is why I am so determined to defeat it and help others to do the same. This isn't how the best life was meant to be lived. I know there is something better and I will find and share what I find with anyone who wants to know. Being happy and learning to put yourself first is a very good start. :giggle:
I recently gave myself permission to be happy. That is no small thing. It seems to be working a little but it will take some time. I was becoming accustomed to sadness after suffering so much loss. Small joys need to be recognized and celebrated. Like food and color and music and friends.

I am irritated by the fact that my bad genes (obesity, diabetes, cancer, arthritis, macular degeneration) are expressing themselves more and more these days. I never knew I had them until I did my DNA test a few years ago. I always wondered why the weight was not coming off after I reached a certain age, and why the glucose readings were inching up since I wasn't eating differently, and why did my sister get cancer in her 50s (does that mean I'm going to get it too?), and why did my dad have two knee surgeries and prostate cancer after he retired?

My genes taunt me every day to do something about it. It's a constant battle these days to remain healthy. I've changed my diet to keto and avoid processed foods. I walk every day. I read and teach to keep my mind active. I visit SF often (yes, you all play a part in helping me cope with aging!).

Ok, now have something to post beyond this earlier post:
What Part of Growing Older Irritates You the Most?

"Irritates" is the wrong term though. Both my parents, my only sister, and nearest aged brother have all passed away while 4 other younger brothers like this person are at the door to the ends of their life. For me the feeling is of great sadness and loss. When my beloved mother passed away at age 86 from acute myeloid leukemia, I was sad for a long time. So yeah our inevitable human mortality for ourselves and for those we love, is the worst experience for many of we older intelligent entities that love and enjoy life and existence.

Good for you! Not sure I could drink this, but I might try making a salad dressing incorporating these ingredients plus some good olive oil.

I'm a very big fan of this morning drink. It's one of my favorites. I sometimes, add raw honey.

With me it's the simple fact that your body isn't as flexible as it used to be. I was getting along rather good when I was in my 60's. Now simple things like putting on or taking off your socks, clipping your toe nails, washing your feet, are a pain in the butt. With a struggle, I can still clip the toenails and put on the socks, but I had to buy some devices to make it easier.

Today I was taking out the screen in some of my windows, and bringing down the glass lower window for the cold weather. Not too long ago, it was no problem. But now with all the bending and leaning, it's a battle. I've begun to keep some of the windows in other rooms permanently closed. But others need to be open in warmer weather.

I work in a nursing home, so over the years I have noticed this happening to the elderly. They drop a book or something, and have problems leaning over to pick it up. Now as Bill Clinton used to say, "I feel your pain". I am much more sympathetic when they drop something. I myself get mad when I drop something, because I have to get down to pick it up.

Oh to be 19 again!!!!
The jobs I've had have done a lot of wear and tear on my body so I totally understand. Also get annoyed trying to get down to the floor for stuff. I am now to the point where I am deciding if things are worth the effort. LOL! I don't like that we are kind of invisible to people however, sometimes they don't notice if I'm sneakin around listening. LOL!

I am not as fast as I once was no matter how hard I try. The pain and stiffness is very annoying. I used to be able to get up and go answer the door. Now I get up and hafta stand there til my back decides it's ok to straighten up. Then the walking. LOL!

I left a roll of trash bags in the Veridian unit at our hospital one night and was all the way back down to the lobby before I realized it. I wasn't goin back for them. I wished them well in my head and went about my business. 😂

Worrying about doing something that results in a new permanent pain.

Like digging in my garden and hurting my knee. The knee pain is still there 2 months later, although much less intense. Hope it goes away eventually !

Doing everyday things shouldn't be a gamble, lol .
