What resources have you found to make sense of the variety of religious/spiritual/sacred traditions in the world?

I'm Catholic but any religion is ok by me as long as it does not advocate hate towards anyone. I don't believe, that unless you believe in Jesus, you will not enter heaven. My brothers, both doctors, both very good people, believe in something/someone that is greater than us but not in the whole Jesus thing. I am sure that they will be given a Go Card into heaven. And my dad and my mom who were incredibly good, but again kind of did not go for the whole Bible/Jesus thing, are happy in heaven. Mom is probably shopping for shoes up there (shoe heaven) and Dad, well, probably being super social with everyone up there.

Thanks. Would you say that people today have less of that quality than let's say in medieval times?

It is comforting to imagine loved ones sitting pretty in heaven, but how do you know. for certain there are final resting places where the buffalo roam and the water is sweet to the taste? On the hand, why believe in hell where un-repented sinners go simply because they not believe in Jesus?
What about modern-man who are told to believe based on the teachings of the Bible alone? Is it harder nowadays to believe in Jesus than back in the day when Jesus was spreading his ministry? Supernaturalism and mysticism explain the unexplainable if you're willing to accept these things based on imagination. if you want the facts, I don't know anymore than you or anyone else for that matter.

I suspect our emotional intelligence hasn't changed much for thousands of years. Technology has made us more aware of the suffering of others. Now it's right in our face. Maybe that's a good thing.
