I am soon to turn 75....my memory turns to the decades I have been on this earth and try to remember hhe good and the bad...Music helps me to remember...where I was when certain songs were played....the big bands and how my father loved to listen to them.. I recalll my teenage years with Paul Ann An ka Gene Pitney, Elvis of course and so many others...they bring back the first crushes,,,the nights I came home late and was grounded and sat in my room listening to my phonograph thinking my parents were the worse ever....then the 60....my first crush on a male singer...Tom Jones...who can forget Delilah,,,,and others...then when my boys came along, I got to know Alice...Ozzy...ACDC...and so many others....all this to say...music can bring on sadness, joy and yes even anger when memories are revived...how about you.? is music a journal of your life?

Ever since I learned to play Louie Louie in the school marching band, I switched from listening to music to playing music. I switched to electric guitar when I was 13. I remember so many songs from the 60's that we learned, and all the memories of that "time". Then I became a Christian, and wrote originals and played at church and in concerts. In the 80's I played with a band that traveled a lot. "Betty Davis Eyes". :) In the 90's I stopped listening to commercial music and started to record originals with a 4 track reel-to-reel, and then with a computer. I also was giving lessons to teenagers on how to make rap music. My last band was crazy and it was my finale. We did mostly all originals, so again, I didn't listen to commercial music much.

I like to play piano that I just picked up in the last two years. I play by ear and it is not very impressive, but I play two hands, chords on left and melody on right. I like hymns, Christmas carols, and folk songs that I can play in the key of G. My daughter who took lessons for many years helps me. I play about a half hour a day.

I very much enjoy music and try to play for my personal entertainment every day. My enjoyment has increased immensely over the past few years. I had been trying to encourage my wife for a long time to try to play guitar or ukulele. She always said it was too hard, too much to remember with regards to chords and such. Maybe due to the pandemic, or just because she got tired of me "nagging" her, she gave it a try and found she very much enjoys it.

My wife and I enjoy singing and playing with the children in the classes we teach. Also very much enjoy playing and singing to our soon to be year old granddaughter. Can't wait until she can start singing along with us.

I listen to music almost every day. Music has always been a part of my life.......listening to it that is. I like a variety of genres and still buy music CDs. I don't have a stereo system like I used to in my past. Just a small boom box. Since I live in an apartment building I do not want to disturb others so it works for me. As I get older I find myself choosing the music of my youth more often (late 60's, 70's and 80's). If I am doing household chores nothing makes me work better or faster than putting on some Led Zeppelin or Queen. Music is soothing to me, especially if I am going through a tough situation or am stressed over something. I can't tell you how many times it has helped me and still does.

I was born with music running through my veins.. .. 🎸

I played cello when I was younger and was member of the choir , my daughter played predominately Bass guitar, but acoustic also, as well as drums and several other instruments..

There's always been music in this house.. I have a huge Eclectic collection of music, from Big band, and swing music... from Soul.. to Blues, from Folk music to Country and to modern day Rock & Pop .. it's played lots ....

I have a horrible memory generally , but I never forget lyrics.. how strange is that ? 🎼🎶

Music has always been an important part of my life and very much a soundtrack to my journey in this life. Certain songs take me back to a specific time and place. Songs often bring up a wide range of emotions for me and help me get through certain rough times or give me a much needed energy boost when I need to get my ass in gear. I have 30 plus playlists on Spotify which is probably a little excessive but I have listened to them all depending on my mood.

My dad and sisters were very talented musicians so when I was young I decided to give the French Horn a try in my grade school band. After about a week the band director and I concluded that I was better off going back to holding a basketball in my hand instead of any musical instrument. I seemed to have inherited my mom's "non musical" genes .

Music has always been part of my life. I started playing the French horn in 3rd grade, in the grade school band. I already knew how to read music as it was part of our classroom work beginning in 1st grade. I continued to play the f horn through 9th grade when I was actually in a full school orchestra with a string section and all. I loved that music with my f horn most of all.

The next year the school did not let anyone in athletics play in band or orchestra, so I had to give it up.

I was a teenager in the mid through the late 60's and I loved most all the rock and roll music and most all folk music. While in college I fooled around with an electric guitar that I bought at a pawn shop. I self-taught myself most cords and played by 'ear' for the rest of it. It was relaxing but that was all did with it. I had no time for being in a band. Following college, I went years without playing any instrument, until this year. I am retired and I have time, so I started learning to play a Classical Guitar, playing it by picking the notes as I play. It has been challenging, fun, and very relaxing. I am not really good yet, but I see progress and enjoy the time I practice most every day. I hope to get where I can surprise my grandkids with a concert, as they have no idea, I know how to read music, much less play a guitar...

Music has not always been a part of my life, just too busy with work and raising 2 kids, but since I've retired I've realized what I've missed......I love the lyrics, I love the beat and I love the emotions I feel and the memories I have when I hear music. I listen to music with spotify and YouTube on my phone, in my car and on my computer.

I enjoy upbeat popular music most, and always have my radio playing in the background.
I listen to a radio station that plays 80's music often, and that seems to agree with me and my mood.

Not that I don't like all the older music that I grew up with, but playing old songs that bring back memories of people and places, can be very depressing ... I just don't go there very often.
Movies, and even TV commercials, bring on some of those 'lost' song memories at times ... surprised when I hear them.

I have to be careful about what kind of music I listen to. Since a lot of it can make me sad (either sad memories or being reminded of good times that'll never come again), I try to listen to stuff that doesn't make me emotional, like some classical and new age.

I was trained on the Cornet and Trumpet and played them from elementary school through my late 50's. I taught myself the Guitar and played finger style from my 20's again through my late 50's. Then, arthritis in my hands made it impossible for me to play at the level I desired. Giving up my playing was an emotional bump. Listening to things I used to enjoy playing and not being able to perform is hard so I don't listen to music much these days.

I don't listen to much music these days, but I still get a kick out of playing the guitar. I re-signed up for Netflix for the sole purpose of watching the newly released Credence Clearwater Revival documentary, which is only available on that platform. I browsed some of the videos last night and it quickly came back how much I hate Netflix. I'm going to watch the documentary as part of my birthday celebration later this month and then cancel my subscription. I hate Netflix.

I sang in chorus when I was in high school. The director suggested I might be happier playing the drums. :sneaky: I love music, nearly every genre. Some days I pull out my old stuff from the 70's, some days I have light classical playing in the background all day long. I had a ex who played the guitar and wrote the music. I loved writing the lyrics and think I was pretty good at that. We had fun doing that together.

We've always had music in my house. My parents loved listening to music, dancing in the kitchen. We had a big stereo system in our entertainment center that provided many hours of music. Had a boom box for outdoors for our many BBQs and parties.

Having an older brother and sister there was always lots of 45s and albums around. They're still around here.
So, yes, music is a big part of my life, I can't clean the house without it lol.

I've been listening to music as far back as I can remember. I started playing guitar while in high school and then playing in bands. Been playing in bands from then until the pandemic hit us back in 2020. We lost a great friend and drummer to the pandemic. Anytime he was with us things just seemed better. I'm still having a hard time dealing with it but I know he'd want me to get on..

Outside of my kids and grandkids, music is the star of my life...from the time that I was old enough to know what it was til today music has always been there for and with me, and as long as I can still hear music...IT ALWAYS WILL BE!!!
