What routine tasks do you have on automatic pilot?

I just stepped out of the shower. It hit me that I have virtually no recollection of what I did in there. I know I washed my hair becuause it's damp and smells like the shampoo I use. I know I washed my body because I can smell the fragranced soap on my skin. But I don't recall doing those things, other than a vague fuzzy sort of recollection, which may very well be simply the aggregate of all the other times I took a shower. 🤦‍♀️

Often my driving is on automatic pilot. Not just operating the car which I think we all do instinctually and without thought. I mean actually getting to my destination. Driving to and from work, the routine driving I do every day, I'll sometimes get to my point B and have no real recollection of getting there. A bit scary, that.

Also taking my supplements. I take them every morning with my coffee. My pill minder always sits in the same place. I'll know I took them because that slot for the day is empty, but I don't recall going through the motions.

There are more, but that should get the ball rolling. What about you?

I do the same thing and then wonder when did I do that??? I don't remember doing it. I have fixed my breakfast, locked my doors, washed my hair, took my medicines and there are others but now that you ask me, I can't remember them all. There have been times I think, "I'm losing it!" This is why I started using a pill box so I would be able to tell if I took my medicines. You're not alone.

I've got this little square "holder" thingy that a friend sewed and sent me. I think she meant it for rings, but, I use it as a pill box.

Every morning, I lay out my meds in order ( this one at breakfast, next one at lunch, etc). Works a charm for me.

Even though I take them for sure this way, sometimes I think "oh, I don't remember having taken my last pill".

I think a certain amount of "auto-pilot" happens to most of us, no matter what our age. If truth be told, lots of working adults would not remember much about their commutes to and from work, for example.

So don't worry @Ronni.

I take 4 medications now. I add 2 supplements and who knows if I need them or not. I have a pill box, but I'm grouchy about refilling it.

One med is to be taken 2x per day. So I turn the bottle upside down when I've taken it in the morning, and lay it on it's side after the evening dose.

@RadishRose "One med is to be taken 2x per day. So I turn the bottle upside down when I've taken it in the morning, and lay it on it's side after the evening dose."

I used to do that too. Then another med was added, making the total 6 pills, plus D3 and Omega-3.
So, I started putting them all into my little "container" every morning.

I never know what day of the week it is. They all blend together, and seem identical. Sometimes I literally have to look at my cell phone to tell me what day it is. It's beginning to feel like we are reenacting the movie Groundhog Day!

With me its lots of incidents of short-term memory.....can't recall most of what I did in the last week but its not important cuz nobody is gonna ask me, lol.....I perform the same routine as others with turning the med bottles upside down after taking, but I'm in trouble if I dont follow this procedure with my sleep meds.....I'm sitting here wondering hmmm, did I or didn't I......its scary sometimes
