What should be an appropriate sentence for rape/murder?

I would like to believe that it depends on the Evidence. So many people have been sentenced and proven many years
later innocent. It would seem there are Iron Clad Obvious ways to prove it all if those are used. Cum on the walls of
the Motel seems sort of Fish Skinny B.S. Of course, Men think with their 88888''s. But it goes in and out both ways certainly.

I live in PA and I wasn't aware of the "fines" levied. What's the logic of that?

What's the point of sentencing these murderers to death? They sit on death row for years. The tax payers support them and feed them and like Charles Manson, die in prison. It's a good thing I'm not "judging" these people because they'd be taken from the court room when they were found guilty and either hung or shot immediately like they use to do in England. These people should not live one more day.

Rapists should be put on the chopping block.
Add me to that list, I think/feel the same way.

Back in 1986, I was selected on a jury for a fellow who committed a double murder and a third attempted murder here in the Houston area. There was no question of his guilt, for there were eye witnesses who saw him doing the deed with his machete. Still, the trial procedure had to go on, and it lasted 5 days. I vividly recall making eye contact with the individual, and it was as if "evil" was glaring from his eyes.

Normally, in the state of Texas, he would have gotten the death penalty but because it was deemed NOT pre-meditated the max he could get is life. The prosecutor told us that if we (jury) decide on "life", he could easily be out in 20 years. But if we gave the max in years - which was 60 - he would be kept for 30 years for sure.

We gave him one life sentence and two 60 year sentences to be served consecutively (as I recall).

In most cases the idea of fine is silly. I have no sympathy whatever for these crimes committed against children, and agree in those cases a death sentence is justified. Other than children, when it comes to rape, in evil to say so, but other criminals don't have sympathy for rapists, and whatever time spent in prison is a form of living hell for them

Simply speaking about the death penalty, it is a deterrent only when carried out. When families of the victims endure twenty years and more of appeals before a death sentence is carried out simply magnifies the torture. Death row is no picnic, but knowing that their sentence won't be carried out expeditiously give the criminal relief no afforded the surviving and mourning family of the victim.

Having a death penalty is not an 'eye for an eye'! Its only reason is so this criminal will not kill or rape again! The only way to assure this is by putting them down, just like a mad dog...

I'm not relating it to the eye for an eye concept. The surviving family has the reliving of the event and loss thrust in their face each time another appeal moves through the judicial system, and those frequently continue for twenty years and longer.

I strongly believe that if there is no question the perp did the deed, then the sentence should be carried out asap.
