What skill should every young person learn?

Pay attention in school and learn all you can to help in later life. Try to
make decisions with a clear mind and what you can expect from them. It is not always easy but take it one day at a time.

For boys, they should learn how to fight so they don't get picked on and so they have confidence in any situation. Along with that, they should learn not to abuse that skill and only fight as a last resort, but being confident in their ability to defend themselves is the best deterrent of all.

I know a lot of kids in their upper teens - my grandkids, their friends, and kids in the neighborhood - well over a dozen boys and girls 13 to 18 years old.

None of them knows how to cook except for Brisa, the 13yr-old. Daughter of Mexican immigrants. This girl knows her pollo and pozole.

And when I say these kids don't know how to cook, I'm telling you some of them don't even know how to turn on a stove, let alone boil an egg on one. Microwaves, they know, toasters they're familiar with...mainly for "cooking" pop-tarts. and hot-pockets. But if for some reason the grid goes down or some devastating event happens, these kids are gonna freakin starve. And because all of them (except Brisa) are just average teenagers you see in every city, you can multiply their number by millions.

It honestly troubles me.

Reading. 📚📖 You can go where you want to and do what you want to through the help of books. To me, it's like money. It's needed in almost every area of life. While plenty of people get along in life without knowing how, a world of opportunities open up to a person through reading books.
