What song brings you to tears still when you hear it?

Sorry to disappoint you Holly but Cilla Black was my overwhelming favorite. I had my hair cut like hers. I adored her and was so sad when she died.

Yeah but of course that's just subjective ... ;)

But I like female singers that my wife doesn't usually because she thinks they mumble. Like this one.

Or even

The second one gets up in her nose at points but I think it is a choice.

The song that gets to me each time and the deepest is “I’ll be seeing you,” written by Irving Kahal and Sammy Fain - it has a significant impact in the film “Shining Through,” and stars Melanie Griffith and Michael Douglas. Great film IMO - Ma and Pa were recently married around the start of WWII and Pa in particular was the house nightingale - always singing including this one. It can often bring me to tears hearing it and reminds me of those much simpler and in a way after the war happier days than even now

In the past, if I'd really had enough of life at that time .... I'd drive up to the hills, put the tape in, turn the volume full blast, use the steering wheel as a drum, sing (shout) along and let rip to this, tears rolling ... Boy, it felt good

Phil Collins - I Don't Care Any More

Yes there are many days this is my theme go to. I use to sing it in a band as well as " well if you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand. I've seen your face before my friend but I don't know if you know who I am"

The variety is interesting as we all have something that speaks to our hearts. It's as personal as it gets and everyone is different. I forgot to post a youtube vid with my selection but I'm sure you understood. At 71 there are so many songs that paint the portrait of my life. I have many I could post. but it's not about me alone.
