For me there are lots of different ones but what prompted me to start this thread is I was just listening to Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, the live version with Stevie and Lindsay. What song or songs’ lyrics speak to you?

Thank you chic! I just listened to that song and what fun it was haven’t heard that in decades. I hope for more of that experience!!! And Happy belated Birthday!

Oh like you Lin...there's far too many ( I love Landslide btw)...

I could list loads, but one that immediately springs to mind is this one....not because it relates to my life, but this is sung by my neighbour's son :D ... George Ezra

There are lots of lyrics that really strike me every time I listen to particular songs. Most of the time they strike me as clever. Sometimes they're humorous, sometimes their profound and sometimes they just click for me. Here are some examples.

My favorite band for clever lyrics is 100 Watt Smile

It's not my nature to fight
How some I have to punch the clock

I've had bad dreams
So bad I threw my pillow away…

She wears her anger like a sweater
It keeps her warm at night

Grew up poor but didn't really realize it until later when hand me down clothes were handed down & we didn't dress as nice as other kids.
so this one gets me every time I hear it.

I can't listen to this song without crying. It was my Sister and her husband's song and I believe it really captured their life together. He had a really hard life growing up yet he knew how to love. My Mom didn't approve of him,but she was wrong. He was Perfect.

Jimmy Charles grew up in my hometown. I heard stories about the boys in the projects listening to him practice this song. I haven't heard it in a very long time.

This Christmas classic takes me back to happier times in my life, times where life stood still, the house was alive with sounds, laughter, and cheer, and the sweet mouthwatering aroma of moms Christmas baking filled the air.

Mom and I would put Andy's album on and listen to it for hours on end.

Here's a nice song til you listen to the lyrics -- it's a sad love song (written by Willie Nelson). What gets me is the idea of how quickly life slips by.

My mom died 19 years ago next month, my dad 21 years in April. The grief is long gone of course, but I can't believe it's been that long.

Although I'm "only" 70, my oldest sister will be 80 next month. It's all very sobering.
