I used to have a inside/outside cat who was a "mighty hunter" (at least in *his* opinion). He brought "tributes" to the front door almost every morning. Squirrel tails, rat haunches, bird wings, frog legs, a pile of...uh...guts.
I'm pretty sure he was mighty proud of himself, providing for his humans so efficiently; at least he acted proud of it.
I was dog-sitting for my sister a few years ago and her retriever-mix dog got out. When he returned, he had a tea towel and a pair of men's tighty-whities with him.
Another sister had a border collie. Now, border collies herd....that's their job - to bring home the stray sheep. Because there were no stray sheep in her rural neighborhood, he collected other things, that were in his opinion .... astray.... Some of the things he brought home were a complete set of car mats, a child's tricycle, a plastic lawn chair, some beach towels, a plethora of door mats, and much, much more. She'd have to go around to the neighbors to see who was missing things. Sometimes there'd be a knock at the door and a neighbor would ask, "Did Griswald carry off my _______?" Griswald loved everybody and everybody loved him....thank goodness or he would have probably been shot one day.
