What to do with a pumpkin?

Here is my handsome pumpkin, I didn't want to mutilate it and waste it by carving it into a jack-o-lantern. I want to eat it, and plant it's seeds.

Dish suggestions?

it just so happens there was a snippet on the local news about donating pumpkins to farms for their animals.

There are a lot of hits on the Internet;the one that the local TV station talked about was donating them to pigs

It turns out pigs, love pumpkins

Pumpkins for Pigs, We reduce food waste one pumpkin at a time.

or if you want to use the pumpkin yourself, I know there is such a thing as pumpkin soup, but don’t ask me how to make it. I can barely cook breakfast.🫣🫣

Split it in half, scoop out the seeds, season it and bake it like a winter squash.
Yep, it looks like the type of pumpkin that would be delicious, and of course, nutritious.
Near the end of the baking, Top each half with either drizzle of oil and bit of salt, or with brown sugar?

You also could cut into pieces and steam, instead of baking halves.

Or pumpkin muffins could gain you new friends. 😊☺️😁

Pumpkin soup.

very popular in Australia - I read once it is most popular of home made soups.

I do it in slow cooker - very easy

100's of variations on recipe - but this is mine - pumpkin pieces, potato pieces, aprox equal amounts- 1 or 2 carrots, 2 large onions
chicken or vegetable stock - I use ready made but you could use your own or stock cubes
Cut all vegies into bite size pieces, put veggies and stock into slow cooker, cook on high until soft enough to mash. Mash with hand held blender then add 1 can creamed corn and 1 container of sour cream, turmeric and paprika to taste.

or different spices if you like or none if you prefer it bland, skip the cream if you want, don't add carrot if you haven't got any, skip the creamed corn if you want, use sweet potato as well/instead of potato if you want, etc etc - soup recipes are flexible.

Pumpkin soup, pie, cookies, bread. Whatever you make from fresh pumpkin will be a work of art. It's taste is a bit more delicate than canned pumpkin.

You have to roast and puree the pumpkin before you cook or bake with it, usually anyway.

You can roast the seeds. They are very nutritious too.

Ive never used canned pumpkin in my life - don't even know if there is such a thing here in Australia.

However if cutting pumpkins (or any vegetable) is too difficult, you can buy pre cut pieces in vaccuum sealed bags here. Good way to still get fresh veggies without cutting them yourself.

Cut pieces in a vacuum sealed bag would be terrific, now that we can't cut them.
I've never seen them sold that way here.
