What was the car you loved to own?

Mine was the 1968 Chrysler Imperial. You could land planes on the hood. It had a leather interior. The works!!! It had electric windows, air conditioning. Of course, I bought it in the late 70s for $300, and none of that stuff worked. But I just loved that car. I always dreamed of having a pile of money and restoring one. Well, now, I drive a Hyudai, so.........

1969 Plymouth GTX, candy apple red with black hood scoops, 440, chrome wheels (and a lot of the engine) Black leather interior. Fun to drive but very fast. Got two tickets with this car.

64 1/2 or 64 Mustang. My husband restored cars and always said that it was a 64 1/2 but others disagreed with him. I didn't care which it was because I liked it either way.

I had a love affair with my 2008 Silverado. We braved many a deep snow, icy road, country mud roads, and other obstacles over the 150,000 miles I sat in her driver's seat. Tears slid down my cheeks when I left her behind to drive off in the Ram I'm currently driving. There never was a car or truck before... and I doubt ever will be after... that I had as many conversations with while driving around the Country. She was a beauty... a real workhorse... and I hope she found another good home. If I do purchase one more truck to be my "last truck", it will be one just like her only a little newer and a few less miles.

Tough call. Either my 1990 Audi Coupe Quattro, in red, or my white 1999 MB SLK230 with the supercharged engine.

I got attached to every car I ever owned, and hated to trade it in, except a 1975 Camaro. It was by far the prettiest, too. But the beauty was only body deep. :playful:

I'm going to be much more modest and say my first Morris Minor.

....my first car - Fiat 126pMaluch (Toddler) was relatively cheap, easy to drive, park, and even repair by the owner - I myself knew a few tricks to make him go..

I had a used Volkswagen Passat, which had a sunroof and heated leather seats; a sweet ride with lots of personality! Unfortunately recurring engine and warning light issues that couldn't find resolution drove me to divest myself of the car.

Mine was a Ford Capri 2.0S in JPS 'livery'. I loved the car but it used to let in the rain something awful. Mine was in British Racing Green which was a bit unusual as most were produced in black. However it had the same gold coachlines, etc.I owned it around 1981, I think.

'73 Triumph TR-6.

Don't have access (today) to the pics of the one I actually owned, but it was almost identical to this one...

It wasn't quite as clean and pristine as this one, but close to it.

The color was very close to this one, too.

I'd have to say the first new vehicle I ever bought- 1986 1/2 Nissan pickup, like this one(mine was beige):

Have a 2.4L OHC engine, 5 speed manual transmission. It was peppy like a sports car, had the utility of a truck.

My favorite car was a 1980 Mazda RX7. My Dad told me the night before I bought it that I was making the biggest mistake of my life. :D He was very conservative. I had more fun in that car and it held it's value very well. Better than any other car I've owned.

My favorite is the one I drive now...2004 Hyundia Santa Fe. I can haul all kinds of things with the fold down seats in the back and I love that I sit up higher off the ground. When I have to drive my husband's Nissan Ultima, I feel like I am sitting on the asphalt! I drive my vehicles until the wheels fall off! My first car was a Rambler (can't remember the year) but it was very "boxy" looking. Yet again, it got me to where I needed to go.

My first car was a Plymouth Road Runner. I think late 60s. It was my younger brother's car. I don't know what happened, but my parents gave me the car??? I was living in NYC at the time. While it was good to get out of the city at times. That lousy alternate side parking was a pain. My brother never did explain the two bullet holes.

BTW I was the proud owner of a YUGO. That car got me though school. It broke down so much, all I could do was study while they fixed it. Cost me $4,900 and they must have put $10,000 in repairs and time fixing the damned thing. They offered stem to stern repairs on it. It never ran for more than 24 hours in a row.

My favorite car was probably the 1990 Camaro Z28 I bought in late 1989. It was a hoot, but grossly underpowered by today's standards....pollution controls hadn't advanced enough to allow the horsepower that car deserved. I regret that I eventually sold it, because most of the upscale Camaro's sold during that era were the IROC's. The few Z28's that were built are commanding some premium collector prices today....I've seen them advertised for over $50K.

If I win the lottery, I will scour the country for a fully restored 1957 Thunderbird 5 window coupe....that is probably my favorite car of all time.

I also had a wee mini that I bought as a beige 850cc. I did a load of work on it, resprayed it black, put on wide wheels, changed the engine - a couple of times. And, changed the seats and loads of other stuff. I has great fun with that car. Sadly, it was never the same after it was stoleen and left with all the windows smashed behind an electrical superstore. I was always convinced that the life went out the car at that point. :(

It ennded up a bit like this one:
