Well, wimpy me! Spoiler alert!!! I shut the movie down when Al Pacino shot his partner by mistake. Ah, well, I went back to Rom-Coms and ended up watching part of the worst romantic movie I have ever had the displeasure to come across. I can't even remember the title now but I rushed to IMDB to give it four stars ... and that was very generous of me!

Currently watching "Wild Child" with Emma Roberts... So funny during dinner of burgers, chips and Strawberry/Apple Crumble with Yoghurt.

I remember well. "Man with the Golden Gun" was one of my least liked Bond movies, excluding a few of the new ones with Daniel Craig. I think his Bond came closest to what Ian Fleming had in mind but, to me, there was too much action and not enough cheer! Exciting in parts, but bleak ... just not the over-the-top Bonds I was used to. As I wrote before, the young'uns who weren't used to MY Bond, loved them! So did the critics, mostly!
 
I read "Dr. No" when I was about 10 @Old Salt. A couple of years later the movie came out. I thought Sean Connery was perfectly described by Ian Fleming! In fact, I've rarely seen a novel so perfectly adapted for screen! from the casting to the setting to the dialogue....

I never read "Dr. No," @Pepper, so I had no idea they were being faithful to Fleming's book. I just read one of his books which was quite serious and none of the movies, except for the Daniel Craig ones, oh, not to forget Timothy Dalton's, could be called that.

They were fun in their dialogue and exaggerated and unrealistic action. Crave used to have the whole collection and I subscribed to that expensive streaming channel just to watch them over and over again. Now they are gone and so far no other service has picked them up. I would watch them again if given the chance!!!
 
I switched over to a local t.v. station and came across the Australian movie - Lantana - wow what a movie. It's an Aussie cult hit from the 2020's.
It's a mystery, a thriller, intrigue and deceit., and what we want out of life, I highly recommend it.
 
Is there a difference between the amount of commercials Tubi has versus Pluto? I have a movie to watch that is shown free on both. Is there a difference between the 2 channels? Does anyone prefer one over the other?
 
Freestyle on Netflix. Filmed in Poland. About a violent bunch of drug gangsters. Not for me. Don't even know why I watched it! Seems the whole world has this problem.
 
'Harry and Tonto' - 1974

Art Carney's Best Actor winning performance about a 72 year old man and his cat.
Full of interesting characters that he meets on his travels from New York to California.
A look back at the 70's and a good take on growing old during that period.

Enjoyable movie and ranks right up there with movies from the 70's like 'Paper Chase',
'Two Lane Blacktop', 'Harold and Maude', etc.

I am getting desperate for something more appealing to watch but it seems most movies nowadays are about darker subjects. I started to watch a Harry Potter movie again last night, from sheer desperation. Tried Rom-Coms the other day and got myself a stinker, so that soured me on that genre for now!

I much prefer Tubi, Pepper. I tried both and found Tubi had shorter commercials for a shorter time and unsubscribed from Pluto! Of course, Tubi Canada might be different from yours, so, no guarantees!

Watch "Detectorists," on Tubi. Nobody hurts anybody if you don't count some really sour lemonade.

I've watched it several times. I read the book before I ever knew the movie was coming out. It seemed like the book was more organized and easier to follow. Unlike the book, the movie didn't examine each of the players separately. They were all mixed together and was a bit more confusing. But the banking collapse was one of the most significant white collar scams that ever took place in history. An utter disgrace.

Not in the movie... Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan acted like he never knew what was going on. He was quoted as saying something like, "I didn't believe any banker would act that way." Although I'm not sure if it was the Fed's responsibility to oversee this kind of banking monkey business.

Around 2007, I was living on my boat in Hawaii, and keeping in touch with my cousin who was a home appraiser in California. Before the general public knew what was going on, my cousin reported to me an unusual cluster of distressed home sales, meaning homes that sold below their estimated value (something like that). Maybe it was "sold below their equity value." I can't remember. At any rate, people were dumping homes and losing their shirts. It stuck me as odd for no other reason than it struck my cousin as odd, but within a year the collapse was almost complete.
