What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Cinnamon Sugar mentioned "Howard's End" ,which I love and has my favorite British Actor in it- Anthony Hopkins. He was magnificent in "The Father" and every movie he is in.

Yesterday I watched for maybe the 5th time, "Philadelphia", with my favorite American Actor, Denzel Washington.
The original movie had Bruce Springsteen singing "Streets of Philadelphia"-but I think they stopped using that part on Directv.
He wrote the song and sang it here:

I worked in Philadelphia- a Great City-LOTs of History and good food!

It amazes me how things have changed here in USA regarding Gay people and also anyone with Aids, since this movie came out.
Princess Diana ( who I still love and miss,) was a foremost , truly nonjudgmental and caring person, and she did a lot, in my opinion, to make us all accepting of people they way they are, and certainly to accept the disability of Aids. God Bless her!

My husband was the first disabled veterans to file a Discrimination charge against a well know company here in NY.
The lawyer called here a few months after ADA EEOC got his charges and he was shocked at the amount of evidence I had to prove this company had discriminated against disabled veterans.

And of course he WON!!!!!Much of my evidence came from charges he made under the same discrimination law, that Denzel reads out loud in one part of the movie....The Vocational Rehabilitation Act......which did very little to help disabled veterans, even though there was also a Vietnam Veteran's Employment discrimination Act. too.

Mr. Malcolm's List. I wanted to see it since before its release. I found out it is on Showtime/Paramount+. I enjoyed it and surprisingly my son did too, even though he got home in time to only see it from about the middle. It's like Netflix's Bridgerton, but not as grand. Deveral months ago, someone asked me to let her know when it became available on streaming, now I don't remember who it was! Oh dear. :sneaky::unsure:

I watched Damsel on Netflix and it was excellent. A couple nights ago I TRIED to watch The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy (I think it was on Prime) but every other word out of McCarthy's mouth was the "F" word. I could only take it for about 15 minutes and switched to something else. It was terrible.

Netflix

“Blueback” is beautiful to look at and touchingly sincere about the urgency of protecting the oceans.

Inspired by her activist mother and her own special bond with a sea creature, a woman strives to protect her local marine habitat from poachers.

I'm watching a Netflix series called The Gentleman. It's a British series. I like it and hope it stays good. There are 8 episodes.

Just finished it. Warning for anyone planning on watching it, it’s a Black Comedy. Swearing, murders, gore, etc. I loved it. This is the first time I’ve seen anything by Guy Ritchie.

You might also like his 2000 movie Snatch, starring Jason Statham and Brad Pitt; also a sardonic comedy but really funny.

oldie but goldie - American Hustle - very humourous but some cut throat too - and a lovely cameo appearance of Robert DeNero apparently able to speak arabic?? - sensuous women too?? depends what ya tastes are??

Five Nights At Freddy’s, a 2023 horror movie now on Amazon Prime that’s based on …a video game! Freddy Fazbear’s is a pizza emporium loosely based on Chuck E. Cheese’s where patrons dine, play video games, and have popular songs played for them by animatronic robots fashioned to look like animals. Well, Freddy’s closed following its heyday in the 1980’s, but the robots (the worse for age and wear) continue to police the premises, inhabited by the ghosts of deceased children. Woe to any who are caught by them!

This isn’t Shakespeare, but the murderous robotic animals are creepy, and oddly compelling to watch…plus one of them is a robotic pirate fox, so I was hooked… 🙀

Howards End is at the top of my favorites list and another Anthony Hopkins/ Emma Thompson movie Remains of the Day is second.
Oppenheimer.
Did you like it? Because Cillian Murphy won the oscar, last night I started watching the miniseries "The Way We Live Now," partly because a young Cillian starred in it and also because I remembered I liked it in 2001. It's free on Tubi and I think it's hilarious.

Yesterday hubby was out working in the yard.I sat down to watch something that he wouldn`t want to watch-didn`t know what that would be,just started scrolling through looking for something. Came across the movie "Poor Things",for which I knew Emma Stone won Best Actress last week. Oh my.A very different movie. I got about 45 minutes in when hubby came in so I re-started it and told him to watch 30 minutes of it and see what he thought. We both got hooked.

Weirdest movie I`ve ever seen(although admittedly,I`m not a big movie watcher-raising 4 kids I was never able to sit long enough without interruptions to watch an entire movie lol) If you decide to watch it (it`s on Hulu) be aware that it has lots of sexual content and it is a very "different" movie-but fascinating at the same time.
