What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

The Grey ... Liam Neeson

I found Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise on the Roku channel and finished watching the entire movie today. That's a rarity for me. But it was in the "leaving soon" section and didn't give an expiration date. It was the 9th and last of the franchise and the only one I haven't seen. I bought the 2 DVD set of 8 films a few years ago.

ANOTHER Jesse Stone fan!!! 😊🤣 I have all 9 dvd’s and make a point of watching them in January.

Far From The Tree
Truly excellent - so good in fact, that I put the book on my library queue. I borrowed the DVD from my library. AMC+ has it free, but I don't know if any other streaming services offer it.

From IMDB: "Based on the NY Times bestselling book by Andrew Solomon, Far from the Tree examines the experiences of families in which parents and children are profoundly different from one another in a variety of ways."
Here's a two minute trailer: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6848736/mediaviewer/rm2528854528/?ref_=tt_ov_i

Rotten Tomatoes rating:

On YouTube I came across a National Geographic documentary called "Billy and Molly: An Otter Love Story".
The film takes place in the Shetland Islands of Scotland.
A lonely older man finds an orphaned young otter in need of care. Along with his wife and dog, he helped the otter Molly to survive and they develop a beautiful friendship.
It is a very touching documentary. The scenery is absolutely beautiful!

Been a few months. Today with 100F temps and no AC in residence, went to a nicely cool nearby theater where I bought a $7 senor ticket of the scifi "A Quiet Place: Day One". Had briefly looked at Rotten Tomatoes that had high review ratings. As someone seeing few movies, was not aware there was an earlier 2018 movie, so this was a prequel. Was BORING to me. Director apparently expected others had already seen the earlier movie so much without explanations. Little dialogue because actors had to be quiet. Alien monsters were mostly shown in dark, out of focus, too fast to show. Yawn...

Was hoping aliens would eat the annoying English guy that when scared froze up, unable to do much. Did like the cat.

Yesss! We can discuss those films. I love that you bought the DVDs too! What drew you to the franchise? And why you do watch them in January. For me, I was a Tom Selleck fan since Magnum PI. His character was so different...even his voice back then. Seeing him in this somber role intrigued me and my heart went out to "Jesse" due to his personal issues. The first one I saw hooked me. It may or may not have been out of sequence; can't remember for sure. They are on the Roku channel now. At some point, I intend to rewatch them. I wished they had made at least one or two more.

This was a TV movie: The Night Strangler (1973). Investigative reporting horror. Some light comedy. Sequel to The Night Stalker (1972).

There is a decent copy on YouTube. As far as I know it isn't carried on any commercial streaming service..

Being a TV movie, there isn't a trailer as such, but this gives some idea:

Thank you for this D! I was a Night Stalker fan but can't remember if I saw this movie. Seems like I should have, but so far I'm not recognizing any scenes. I started watching yesterday but haven't gotten back to it yet.

Absolutely! I wish there were more movies. I watch in January because it’s cold cloudy and depressing out. For some reason it calms and relaxes me after the holidays. Maybe also because Tom Selleck reminds me so much of my brother. He was a functioning alcoholic until he wasn’t. Sometimes I catch my breath because he looks so much like him. He’s been gone over 10 years now.

Not exactly a movie, but last night we watched (for the umpteenth time) Cirque Soleil's "Midnight Sun". We have always been a fan of Cirque, have all the show's DVDs, and saw two in person. Quite entertaining!

Hard Miles
Based on a true story
A social worker at a youth facility assembles an unlikely cycling team of juvenile convicts for a transformative 1,000-mile bike….
Note: it was actually 762 miles to the Grand Canyon.
It was an inspiring movie.

Unsinkable: Titanic Untold. What a complete waste of time. The worst casting I've ever seen, except for William Alden Smith.
