What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Maybe the 1 queer movie. Dogs Day Afternoon. Was on this afternoon with Al Pachino and the Queer Transvestite.
Are you referring to Chris Sarandon, who played Leon in Dog Day Afternoon? Yeah, he played a screwed up character, who was fixing to use the bank robbery haul to get transsexual surgery. But the actor Chris Sarandon was a normal guy. His only problem was that he was married to Susan Sarandon for 12 years...😄

I was awed by the film when it came out. It's one of the chief toga and sword movies of the era.

My mother took me to see it at the local theater (I was 7), but when the scene came up with the lions eating the Christians in the Coliseum, my mother dragged me to the back of the theater where there was a wall. I was too short to see over it, but she could continue watching... I'll have to watch it again to see what I missed!

Steve McQueen once said that the only movie he ever regretted making was The Blob. I always wished that he didn't say that. It was such a fun movie to watch as a kid in the 50's and 60's.
Heh, heh. McQueen may have later regretted making The Blob, but that picture was what put him on the map. Even in that silly movie you could see his charisma.

But when I saw it, it scared the tweet outta me. I thought to myself, "Nothing could ever stop this thing!"...:) The special effects weren't that bad for 1958.

Cryo (2022). Sort of a Twilight Zone episode.

Group of isolated people trying to cope with a very confusing situation they woke to find themselves in. Suspense, tension, mystery, conflict, unexpected conclusion.

Watched it on Prime Video but also carried elsewhere such as Tubi, The Roku Channel, etc.

The last movie I watched (am still watching) is 2025 Armageddon, a The Asylum monster(s) movie about The Asylum films being mistaken by aliens as "depicting real life mythology", as described in the Wiki plot synopsis. Said aliens use drones to create the monsters who then wreak havoc on our planet. Two estranged sisters, one a scientist, another a Navy commander and a couple that winds up collaborating, figure out the the films are connected to the invasion and monsters. Talk about touting your own B movie catalogue!

Experiment in Terror (1962)

This is an innovative neo-noir with a heavyweight production and acting team. Written and directed by Blake Edwards, produced by The Gordons, music by Henry Mancini, for Columbia Pictures. It stars Glenn Ford, Lee Remick, and Stephanie Powers. The bad guy is a relatively famous actor, but since they kept his name a secret, and the actor was only recognizable halfway through the film, I won't reveal him here. There was also a nice role for Clifton James, who played the jailer in Cool Hand Luke, and Sheriff J. W. Pepper in two James Bond movies.

A bank teller is accosted at her home by a mysterious asthmatic assailant, and she and her sister are threatened with death if the teller doesn't steal $100,000 from the bank, and deliver it to him.

Director Blake and DP Philip Lathtrop took several iconic inspirations from 3 or 4 Hitchcock films. The noir cinematography was first rate. They showed several San Francisco landmarks, and had a rousing finish at Candlestick Park during a live game between the Dodgers and the Giants.

You'll recognize several tropes that were imitated many times in later films.

Available free on TubiTV.

Doc's rating: 7/10

"13 Minutes" (2021) an Oklahoma town tornado disaster film. Very tense. Follows four families, each dealing with their own stuff.

Tubi, probably elsewhere too.
