What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

This is not the last movie I watched but I saw it recently and can’t get it out of my mind. It is the best movie I’ve seen in my lifetime. Everything about it is superb. It’s fascinating, beautiful and touching. I hope you all see it. I saw it on Netflix.
That's tall praise, MM! It sounds good, although I've never seen it.

If you haven't seen the older film Sayonara (1957), I think you'd really like it. Stars Brando, Red Buttons, the absolutely delightful Myoshi Unecki, and Miko Taka.

Amish Affair
A true story about murder and betrayal.
This movie isn’t a block buster movie but it is an interesting story made in 2024. It was very believable.

An Amish leader, hires Hannah to help with his ailing wife. A spark ignites their secret relationship, but when Aaron's wife dies under suspicious circumstances, she is framed for murder and fights to prove her innocence.

1967 Tony Rome starring Frank Sinatra, a bit dated but a great cast.

Thank you for the recommebdation! You MUST see Farewell My Concubine! It was banned in China and was censored in western countries by the Chinese. It is only recently that the full version is available. Reading about the movie after watching it was also fascinating as was finding out about Leslie Chueng who was superb in the film.

Capsized, Blood in the Water. Movies where humans lose their place at the top of the food chain are always a fun ride.

This one is "based" on actual events. After I watched the movie I read up a little about the actual event and of course they did make some changes for dramatic effect. There were only two survivors out of five. One chick got injured during the boat's sinking and died from her wounds. Two other dudes drank sea water and went crazy and jumped out of the life raft and got eaten by sharks. At least that's the two survivor's story and they're stickin to it. However if those two dudes that got eaten were anywhere near as annoying as the movie made them out to be I wouldn't be surprised if the two survivors gave them a little help existing the life raft.

It wasn’t the last movie, but one that has stuck with me. Generation War (a miniseries) is a German film that follows the lives of five friends through the entire war. Haunting and gave me bad dreams. I usually don’t care for war movies, but I was interested in the German point of view. It’s free on Prime.

As an aside, my grandmother’s country was occupied during WW2. Although she was in the states, many other relatives were not and suffered greatly. The last year of the war was near-starvation conditions.

I hated Oliver Stone's movie about JFK, how he mixed fact and fiction (movie scenes cut with news footage) and he seemed to be saying there was a cover-up.

The last movie I saw was in a theater, Anora. I thought it was good, but a little too much sex. The main character was played by the actress who played the oldest daughter, Max, on the TV show Better Things.

The last movie I saw in a theater was The Conclave a couple of weeks ago. Would heartily recommend. It's about choosing a new pope. I can't go into more details or it would ruin it. It was definitely worth watching in a theater. Interesting and thought provoking. Stay until the end.

Just finished watching The Post (2017; Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks; 1 hr., 56 min.) again. Excellent movie. One of my favorite parts is when it quotes Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black, who in the "Pentagon Papers" decision in 1971, said, "The Founding Fathers gave the free press the protection it must have to fulfill its essential role in our democracy. The press was to serve the governed, not the governors."

I watched the documentary last night. It featured the two actual survivors. It was better than the movie IMO.

DEUS: THE DARK SPHERE (2022)

Despite the impression given by this trailer, this is not an action flick or sci-fi flavored horror.

A small spacecraft is sent to investigate a large sphere in orbit around Mars. Stuff happens. Hard to say more without spoiling it. The true nature of the sphere is the big twist.

Prime Video.
