What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

Had plenty of down time this evening so I watched two movies after today's strong recommendations on this thread. Both movies are top notch.

My husband and I watched The Wrecking Crew documentary (2008) together. It's about the group of studio musicians who played on so, so many of the songs that our generation grew up with. It's on Netflix, Prime, Hoopla, and probably other streaming services.

I also watched Rental Family. Lots of subtitles. That doesn't bother me but DH is somewhat dyslexic and doesn't care for subtitled movies so I soloed on that one. It's charming, heartwarming and interesting. Hulu.

Thanks for the recommendations on these two winners!

I'm just done with "Dracula 3D" (Italy 2012).
The worst Dracula movie ever, or as a critic on IMDB called it: "Crapula" :ROFLMAO:

"Thank God I had enough garlic for one bullet" (Rutger Hauer as Abraham Van Helsing).

You should also look for Muscle Shoals and 20 ft From Stardom. The first is like The Wrecking Crew but about the evolution Muscle Shoals and The Swamp Boys as the recording Mecca for Southern Rock. The second is about backup singers. I loved all three.

We were in the mood for an action movie last night, so we watched White House Down on PrimeVideo... or it might have been Paramount+. Good special effects, but it was a bit long.

Last night, I watched "The Hours," 2002, starring Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Nicole Kidman. A story of 3 women battling deep depression - a very gripping and dark movie that held my constant attention all the way through, but this was my third time to see it, and I have yet to understand it.

Happy-Go-Lucky (2008)

A look at a few chapters in the life of Poppy, a cheery, colorful, North London schoolteacher whose optimism tends to exasperate those around her.

I liked this unusual movie. I watched it years ago.

Stars Sally Hawkins who plays in Maudie (2026) (See jim_slim post above)

- the driving lesson

I found Happy-Go-Lucky was free to watch on YouTube so I watched it.

It was much better than I remembered. An interesting study about what makes people happy and what makes them unhappy through the experiences of the main character, Poppy.

I watched the remake of Goosebumps starring Jack Black. He played his part well. I liked the young people in the movie as well. Sometimes I feel the need to watch campy Sci Fi, Fantasy, non gory Horror films. I actually watched this film within 24 hours (often unusual for me) so obviously it kept me entertained. There was even a surprising twist. What I didn't like was the main characters was a demon ventriloquist's dummy that was accidentally released and became the one pulling the strings (pardon the pun) on the nightmarish horror that was released on the town. I never liked horror movies featuring evil, animated, talking dolls and dummies.
