What Was Your Experience After Cataract Surgery?

After my Eye Doctor told me she could no longer correct my blurry vision, I had both eyes done last fall, on separate occasions) and all went well! I still need glasses because the new lenses will not correct a prism issue but so far it has been a good experience.

It was REQUIRED to have a driver with me, to take me home.

At the second surgery, the nurse asked me how the first one went. I told her I had gone home and watched a hockey game that night on TV. She started to chuckle when I told her she should recommend her patients NOT to watch hockey the first night - it required a LOT of eye movement to keep track of the puck. Yes, I strongly suggest that a new patient NOT watch hockey before the eye heals a few days!! Otherwise, I am happy to see clearly now!
 

I had cataract surgery on both eyes in March...2 weeks apart. I'm still taking the eye drops until the end of April. So far, my distant vision is better than it's been in years....driving, etc., is doing well, and I can see oncoming traffic and road signs, etc., better than ever. I took a short drive at night a few days ago, and the "halo" from oncoming headlights is minimal. Watching TV, at a distance of about 15' is clear, and I bought a couple pairs of cheap "readers" for using the computer, etc.

I have another exam in early May to see if everthing is OK, and if I still need to get prescription glasses. At this point, it seems that I may only need reading glasses. The surgery and recovery seems to be going well.

I was amazed at how much the house needed a good cleaning. 😊

And, I was so pleased that I no longer needed the binoculars to watch what the neighbours were up to. 😊

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: That was my wife. Got it, then Told me my bathroom was filthy... must give you bionic vision... not sure I want to get that surgery. :)

I had both of my eyes done a week apart in 2023. The surgery went well, had a single view distance lens implanted in both eyes. My vision was brighter than before the surgery, but I still have some blurry vision and need to use a flashlight to read and see the keyboard, etc. I needed to have some clouding removed in both eyes afterwards with a laser procedure.

It did not make my vision good enough to pass the eye test for my driver's license renewal, because I have late stage dry macular degeneration/geographic atrophy.

I still use reading glasses, computer glasses and distance glasses. My vision is still far from perfect and clear, but I have to deal with it as best I can.

I had cataract surgery about 10 years ago, I could see better after surgery, this was also when they discovered that I had Macular Degeneration...just recently had to have minor surgery to remove scar tissue film in one eye.

With eyes set for distance and no glasses for driving, how well do you see the dashboard guages -- speedometer, fuel, oil pressure, clock, etc?

With eyes set for distance and no glasses for driving, how well do you see the dashboard guages -- speedometer, fuel, oil pressure, clock, etc?
 
I had my first cataract surgery on July 1, I had an immediate improvement, probably because I was effectively blind in that eye. I took the combination of eye drops tapering off over a month and went for a check up. It was all good but since stopping those drops I've had some discomfort and dry eye issues. Hopefully it will settle down soon enough. I'm also sensitive to bright light now and have bought some good sunglasses.

I had the worst experience afterwards and my eye doctor that did my follow ups since I live on an island and have to go to the mainland to see the opthalmologist. He kept saying everything looked good and I should give it time. Nothing was wrong with my eye.

My sight got so bad and I found out why. The opthalmologist told me the wrong powered lens was implanted in my eye. I was livid. He said I was 1 of 5 that got this lens, why was I not notified? He did lasik surgery (free of charge) to correct my sight. The next day my sight was perfect until I got cataract surgery on the other eye in December. Now the right eye is blurry and I can't see words at all.

I went to another opthalmologist for 2nd opinion and was told I have a cloud behind the lens that needed to be removed. He performed a simple capsulotomy but that seemed to make it worse. Today I made an appointment with my original surgeon and I am praying for a better outcome. Talk about frustration!

I pray that your eyesight improves. I had the capsulotomy day before yesterday and my vision is worse. I just don't know what is going to happen, all I know is I cannot see clearly. This is depressing and so frustrating.
 
I have glaucoma in the left eye, but Latanaprost eye drops keeps it under control. I'm developing a cataract in the right, but since I'm doing OK wearing glasses, I'll let things be for now.
 
I am getting a laser treatment on one of my eyes in order to address the blurriness. I think it is called a secondary cataract that has formed. I almost wish I had never had the damned cataract surgery.
