What Would Be The Odds

You see someone you know and call to them by name, they turn around at the call of their name.

But when you catch up to them they act as if they are not the person you know them to be.

Why answer to the name then? What would be the odds....they look alike, they act alike, they have the same name.

Is it really the same person and why would they do that?

I could see it if there had been a problem but that's all I come up with :)

How long has it been since you last saw this person? Maybe the person has developed a memory problem and doesn't remember you. I don't forget faces but, heavens, am I bad at names!

On the other hand, they say we all have a "double" out there somewhere.

I've had that happen with people that I knew quite well but never a stranger.

It's embarrassing to me that I've changed that much or made that little impact on them in the first place.

Now I just mumble to myself hey that looks like so and so and go about my business.

There was that momentary smile of recognition and I am 1000% sure she knew me. Things went bad for her so maybe she could have been embarrassed and just wanted to stay in hiding.

That's possible, that for whatever reason, she just didn't want to say who she was and continue the relationship....usually when you say hi to someone you haven't seen for a long time, it's followed by a lot of questions about them and what's been happening in their lives. Something they might want to avoid if possible.
