What would you do, loaned book not returned

I've seen that play out too often. It's still bigtime ignorance on the borrower's part. If I've learned one thing over the decades is that I rarely make or give open ended offers anymore. Too many will take or have taken advantage. If one wants something or a favor for me you ask for it directly. So called protocol or customs be darned.
