What would you name your boat if you had one?

I had no idea what I'd christen my boat... so I asked AI to come up with a boat name using my name in it. Here's what it came up with for a nautical theme:
  • NautiKate 😄
  • Ship Happens, Kate’s Driving
  • Reel Kate (great if you fish)
  • Knotty Kate
  • Kate’s Ahoy
It also came up with some word play names...
-- Seas the Kate
-- Kate's Buoy Toy

Way back in the 70s I bought an old 36' wooden 'double ender' in need of a great deal of work to get to the point of returning to the water, after many months of restoration we returned it to Georgian Bay in Ontario and spent a number of years puttering around out of Wiarton harbor.
During the restoration we saw the faded name the 'Young Voyager' painted on the hull but being not so young any more renamed her simply “Voyager”.
Unfortunately she eventually became a larger hole in the water that we could no longer afford to keep and sold her only to see in later years it abandoned sitting on shore.
Still miss those days out in Colpoys Bay!

My boat when I was married was named Icarus, because my wife liked that name. I wasn't too hot on giving it such an ill fated name, but I don't actually believe in that stuff so I was OK with it. I would have put my foot down on the name MayDay, however. But that never came up

The boat in my Avatar was named Talaria. That name was from the previous owner, who was so proud of his boat and name that he left behind a stack of hand outs to give to people to explain the name. It was clever enough, but I never passed one of the handouts out, and come to think of it, no one ever asked about the name. I looked the name up in a dictionary but found nothing. According to the previous owner, talaria are the little wings on the heels of the god Mercury. But the boat was heavy, built to take a beating, so it was not a fast boat.

My favorite name was from someone's racing sailboat, Red Shift. Astronomy buffs will understand that name. I'll just leave it at that.7Hawaii6.jpg

We sold the boat 8 years ago down in Florida. We weren’t hardly using it and paying for dry storage and then having it placed back in the water was beginning to become very expensive. The name of our boat was “Serenity.”

It wasn’t my boat alone. I went in on a boat to go fishing with another person. We shared all the costs.

75 years ago, probably more than that, my family was vacationing in Ontario where we rented a primitive cabin and a row boat. I was less that five years old, so I don't remember a lot. But what seemed to be out in the middle of nowhere, and back then there was a lot of Ontario that was out in the middle of nowhere, while we were exploring from our little boat, we came upon a huge boat that was wrecked and dragged up on the shore. We landed our boat and explored it and tried to imagine what had happened. I just remember it was big, wooden, weathered gray, and unsalvageable. A funny thing to remember. I'm not sure why that stuck in my mind.

And then there could be 'Kiss Me Kate', or 'K-K-K-Katie'. 😊

Well, what a coincidence.
We have a member, by that name!
☺️😁😄😆

I have many fond memories of going out fishing with my family in my father's small boat. He had a small wooden sailboat with motor (minus the sails). The seats were two benches on either side and the boat was wide and seaworthy. Usually when we headed home in late afternoon, the wind and waves would be kicking up, and my dad always made me (the youngest) sit on the floor under the poop deck to stay dry and safe. Good memories. He named his boat the SeaBreeze.
