What's a good mosquito repellant ? Dang bugs !!!

I've been wanting to sit outside in the evening ..... but I'm always the main course at the mosquito buffet ! For whatever reason - they L-O-V-E me !!!!
I can douse myself with repellant , but I'd rather not. My husband & his friends go to the shooting range at night & they burn cat tails . It works if you're within a foot of the smoldering thing . I tried lemon geraniums ... nope. I tried spraying around the deck ... nope. I tried citronella .... nope. Do you know if there is anything that works ? My legs thank you !

Anything with DEET. (Deep Woods Off has a high concentration)

Unfortunately, it has been my experience that nothing REALLY works, at least not for long, and not very well.

Fabric softener sheets (more than 1) help. Staying inside is about the only thing really effective, but that's no fun.

I use to use Yard Guard. I don't know if they make it any more. It helped to a degree. just spray it around your chair and in the grass. I remember my Grandpa burning cat tails. He would surround us with them. No bugs but you could hardly breathe. lol

We often use citronella candles when we sit outside in the summer months.

Coconut Oil with some Lavender Oil drops in it :rose:
Mix it together while the coconut oil is in liquid form (room temperature or a little below)

Folks I am going to give you a tip for sitting outside and enjoying the evening without mosquitoes.

One you probably have never heard of but it really works.

Get one of those oscillating fans and put it behind you. Mosquitoes hate wind. You never see mosquitoes out on a windy day.

They also zone in on the carbon dioxide you breath out.
