Whats For Dinner/Supper ?

THiS ^^^^ looks really good @Kadee. You really are a great housewife. lol!
Thanks @PeppermintPatty the older I get the more I like my own freshly prepared / cooked food
I used to enjoy going out for lunch maybe 3 ~ 4 times a year ….wed normally go on our way to a afternoon dance , that way I wouldn’t have to cook a meal after I’d been dancing 💃

Nah don’t trust what they dish up at pubs now days …blah :sick:….

DH wants to take me out for our 37th wedding anniversary this coming week and I said nah …nice thought… my dear but I’d rather just have a light meal at home rather than eat at a pub …I honestly think food standards have deteriorated in this country in the last 10 ~ 15 years With so much of our “good food “ being exported to overseas countries while we eat their cast off‘s , I’ve had people ask me why I can my own fruit ….they say isn’t it allot of work ….yes it is … but I simply refuse to consume fruit canned in China that our supermarkets sell …

Better stop waffling we are off to an afternoon dance again …different venue ..to where we went last week , the one today is live music …I’ll take photos as usual ..

My husband and I have been together close to 35 years. It’ seems like long time.

I don’t blame you for not wanting to go out. Who knows what’s in the food . We haven’t gone out to eat in ages. Like yourself, we prepare our own food and enjoy doing so. My husband even makes food and cans it. He’s become quite the partner since we’ve retired.

Happy 37th Anniversay to Kadee and Mr. Kadee. I wish you another 37 years.

Pasta puttanesca and bread. (I really should have had a salad instead of the bread.)

I am finally enjoying cooking after years of catering to the tastes of my three kids, whose palates, until they reached adulthood, didn't extend much beyond chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, etc.

I've been trying new recipes now and again. It's been fun!

Barbecued Chicken Legs with baked potatoes and homemade relish.
I don't cook chicken legs very often because hubs simply won’t eat them , but the rare occasions I pick up a pack of them I use this recipe,… they turn out really tasty for the little effort of preparing them (they are oven cooked )
its shopping day tomorrow so I may get a pack of the ones I usually get that are fairly “ meaty “ they are in a section for halal foods , I don’t even fully ….understand what halal foods are …but they look ok so I buy them

That is similar to our recipe but we marinate our chicken for at least 24 hours and cook it outside on the bbq grill. Legs aren’t my favourite chicken cut but this way cooked is really nice. Generally I prefer chicken breasts since they are leaner and not as grisly.

Tonight we made chow chow from our excess green tomatoes. It’s currently getting bottled. It’s more of a thick relish or chutney.
Most of the flavour comes from spices placed in a cheesecloth. The flavour is delicious

Chow chow @RadishRose

I think it could mean kosher, prepared in a way that is permissible to the jewish people or muslims. Maybe a certain way they have to be killed and prepared for consumption. This is just a guess I did not google it. We had one family in our big group that was jewish, she married in and converted. I do know were many special rules about food. Two separate kitchens, meat must not touch dairy, certain foods that were not allowed.

I bought a brand of lids from Amazon called superb …. I’d never heard of before and they turned out to be a disaster …...they buckled like the cheapie lids I was forced to buy on ebay during the height of the pandemic cause we could not get any lids in Australia
at all during that time .
