whats good for gout in the foot

control of diet at his age is the answer - study wot foods cause it and stop them - but the pain can be quite severe - I have been taking 'progout' for many years and it keeps the pain at bay and allows me to eat gout producing foods. For the immediate pain you need another general pain reliever put long term the 'progout' . been on it for 40 yrs now!

Wouldn’t a better name be ‘gout-out’ lol 😆

Tart Cherry Extract taken daily seems to be a good preventative for me. It's been three or four years since I had my last attack. That coincides directly with the time I started taking Tart Cherry Extract. It's preventative, but probably does little when taken after the attack starts.

This is the one I take:

yep forgot about that i havnt had it for 40 years so forgot....

We have a family acupuncturist so when my spouse developed gout (often a side effect from the diabetes prescriptive medication), I insisted we make an appointment rather than take Western medication. The side effects of gout prescriptives was pretty gruesome to read, LOL.

He got relief from the very first treatment. He received an herbal tea to drink 2x/daily for the next week, had one more treatment and tea, and that was it.

Shortly afterwards, we both began going to see our acupuncturist for monthly "tune-ups" a few years ago. It works very well in conjunction with Western medicine, and our Kaiser HMO is becoming more open to alternative medicine. They actually run their own acupuncture clinic, which is free after doctor referral, for pain relief, including migraines. But we prefer our family acupuncturist; he's the 8th generation in his family to carry on the practice and his son, who works with him (we see either one of them, depending on the day of the week we go), is the 9th generation.

Once we had to postpone our monthly visits, can't remember why, but we were 3 weeks overdue. Spouse noticed his gout symptoms were starting to come back, so we made sure to make our appointments more regularly going forward!

When I last had an attack of gout, the doc prescribed colcachine, with the instruction that I should only take it till (or if) it caused diarrhoea.
Looking at the data for colcachine, it appears that the difference between an effective dose and an overdose is very slim so it should only be used with caution and for a short term.

I just go for a cold compress and ibuprofin, though I try to minimise the use of NSAIDs. Usually clears up in a couple of days.

Mountain ash red berries, the pulp of the berry , lots berries yep, boil cool and wrap while resting, around toe, draws out the uric acid in the joint, do not eat, use as a tintar to target the build up of this uric acid, it’s free and time consuming but no side effects except healing
