What's happened to Watermelons in Past Two Years!

Hi, I love eating watermelons. Sweet, juicy, red flesh, oh, mouthwatering. 2021 was the last year where they were as good as they should.

However, 2022 and so far in 2023, got 6. Yup, I've been getting them for me and daughter, but the sweetness has gone out of them.

Does it mean, not enough water, too much water. Fauna environmental changes, any of you know?

I'll give them a by for now, as it's no fun eating a flavourless watermelon, yes?

Yes, I agree! It's the same with cantaloupe and tangerines. No sweetness anymore!
Actually, even could be called bitter!

They have not been sweet for the last two years here. I did not even try one this year. The Texas grown cantaloupe have been tasty! I must confess I am one of those that likes salt on melon.

We must have an unusual store here. For the last month we have been eating the sweetest, juiciest, yummy tasting watermelon we have had for years. IDK how or where they are getting them. We are buying 5 at a time and eating some everyday. Not a lot, but a good slice. :)

My issue is storing watermelon.

I like to attack the entire thing, gut it into chunks, and get them out to eat as I want them. But even with refrigeration this "water" seeps. I just know that under a microscope it's like a bacterial mosh pit down there. Other melons seem pretty much the same.
