Evening playmates,
I was talking to an ex-pat i met today while i waited for the wife to do the supermarket dash, (im just no good at being near people in supermarkets, I hate being hit by old ladies with those trollies and i cant get my head around why people block the isle while they stand there having a chat and give you a dirty look when you try to get past them) so i stay outside in the car Play some nice music and read.

Well this chap "roger" came over the car-park knocked on the window and said "nice car" and so we chated for nearly an hour about cars.:p

It gave me the idea to ask you all (Ladies and the men folk) What was your best chat up line when you saw somebody you wanted to get to know better?:confused:

Can't help you, I am busy escorting my wife, a "little ole lady with one of those trollies".

OMG, I was thinking this thread was about those late night TV commercials…..”Pretty ladies are waiting to talk to you. Call 800-CHATNOW”.

Okay, I’ll be going now. :playful::eek:nthego:

I think it all depends on where you are at, what you can talk about.

I always start with "Hi, I'm an angel". Seems to work. ;)

You see one of those "old chaps" comin' your way you know they're going to talk your ear off. I avoid 'em cause I can't get a word in 'edgewise'.

OK TIME AND PLACE THEN?
Back in the mid 1960's I was standing out side the liverppol's "Cavern club" waiting in line to go in for a night listening to the groups of the time,
my friend really was a ladies man and no mirror was safe when he was around, he dressed to kill,

He'd just bought one of those beatle Black jackets "the ones that had no collar",
Standing behind us were two girls and one of them tap tapped my friend on his shoulder and came up with one of the best chat up lines ive ever heard,

" excues me but is it snowing wher you come from???
my friends reply, "What in august" !!!!!!!!!!!!

Girl, Oh Im sorry that white stuff on your jacket must be dandruff then "i thought it was snow. (THEY MARRIED THREE YEARS LATER and it snowed just as they came out of the church:love_heart: :love_heart: :love_heart: :love_heart:

We say pick-up line here too to get to know a potential romantic interest. I'll let you in on my little secret - it's all in the eyes and smile, not much chat-up required, actually. :)

Here's a good one.. "I know this is going to sound like a phoney pick up line, but seriously, You look so familiar, do I know you from somewhere?"

It's innocent and maybe it could be true... and it's not off-putting.. and the conversation starts from there as he/she tries to figure out if you DO know them from someplace... When in reality, you never saw them in your life..

Yes my sister-in-law taught my sister how to pick up/pull men many years ago, by a look, then a second lingering look, it
seemed to work every time. I think it only works female to male though doesn't it Cookie, men are less subtle

In a grocery store, an almost sure way to get a conversation going is to A) scope your target, B) go stand near the shelf that the target's focusing on C) pick up an item off the shelf and ask something like "Have you tried this before? Is it easy to use?" etc. If target is a no-go, proceed to aisle 3; if target starts talking, the ball is in your court. In truth, this approach is a lot easier for people who aren't too shy - shyness takes more guts to strike up a conversation. I used to be very shy many eons ago, but I pushed myself out of it.
