What's the most bizarre thing you've ever seen.

I saw the Aurora Borealis from Northern Calif when I was a boy of about 10. I remember my dad saying to me that I may never see them again in my life because it was so highly unusual from where we lived. He was right.
That is something my oldest grandson and I said we would love to see in person. Sometimes I just watch them on the TV via YouTube.

Ok, I have to come clean. I told you nothing bizarre ever happened to me but that's not the whole truth.

Many of you are writing some great things here so I guess I need to come clean. (I wrote about this as a short story with a lot of fictional stuff added.) I don't talk about the real story much but I will here.

This is the true account.

My wife and I were driving to Idaho to visit relatives. We had made a reservation to stay in this very old hotel in a very small town in Eastern Oregon. When we arrived we found the town to be mostly closed down except for the hotel and a bar. The hotel was less than advertised. It was a two story brick building with a nice looking entrance but once inside it was easy to see the place hadn't been taken care of. It had seen better days to say the least. Several old men were in a lounge area off from the front desk. They were watching an old box t.v.

We were having second thoughts about staying but it was getting late so we figured we would make the best of it.

Our room was on the second floor. We walked up a flight of old creaky stairs and found our room. It was in need of paint and the carpet was worn. We decided to call it an early night. The sheets were clean so we turned out the light and crawled under the covers. The light out front shown through the curtains which cast a low light into the room.

It was the middle of the night when it happened. Something woke me up. I could feel something tugging at my arm. Still half asleep I opened my eyes. What I saw scared the shit out of me.

A shadow figure stood on the bed over me. It had a hold of my arm and was pulling on it. It had gotten me into a sitting position as I struggled to free myself from its grip.I realized my physical body was still laying on the bed. I don't pretend to understand it but I was somehow being pulled from my body.I struggled and yelled at it to let me go but the shadow figure paid little attention.

In the midst of my struggle I recalled something from my youth particularly from my catholic upbringing. IfI were to call out “In the name of Jesus Christ be gone” whatever had me would disappear. I did just that. The shadow figure let go and disappeared as I fell back into my body.

My wife had stayed sound asleep through it all. I didn't sleep the rest of the night. I woke my wife early and I told her what had happened. We got dressed and got the hell out of there.

It was the most bizarre and the scariest thing that has ever happened to me.
Yes, as @Nathan suggested, please do post this in our Paranormal and Strange Occurrences category. Feel free to copy and paste this into either an existing thread about seeing ghosts or create your own thread. Thank you.

Paladin, I saw quite a few men ,dressed like Jesus, with those wooden boxes they stand on, to preach to anyone who will listen, in New York City.
This was on New Years Eve and crowds of people were there to see the New Year Ball drop.

I saw other kind of unusual things every time I was in the Big Apple, but got used to it-decades ago.
In an elevator at the big art museum a famous actor spoke to me, ----Edward G. Robinson- he was in the movie "Soylent Green" 1973 and was a big patron of the Art Museum.

I never saw any apparent homeless people there so long ago.

But I digress- someone here brought up the Green Flash Phenomena recently and it reminded me of this-

I was driving with a friend over a narrow 2 lane bridge over the Delaware, at night and suddenly the whole area over the bridge and water turned a bright florescent green. I stopped my car, it was so odd and there were two cars in the other side that stopped as well.

We both slowly started to cross again but I stopped when one of the drivers stopped and rolled down his window and asked me if I had just seen what he saw. And asked what was it?

I told him I saw that unusual green light, too and maybe it came from a helicopter's lights at a close by hospital-but he said that hospital does not have a helo Mercy Flight pad. He was right.

Helicopters have green lights but still- there was no sound we could hear from anything above us and I guess I tried to somehow explain to myself what this could have been. My passenger was quite shaken by it.

Couple of postings about lights in the sky, I have one of those stories too.

When in highschool I came home one night and as I was still in my car in the drive I saw three red lights dancing around the sky. I thought maybe it was a reflection on the windshield so got out of the car, the lights were still there. They would move together but also separately, slow and fast, kind of erratic, too erratic for any kind of aircraft. Then I considered someone playing with lazer lights but it didn't look like lights shining against clouds, that just didn't fit. After a few minutes they started traveling away and got dimmer and eventually disappeared.

It was so unexplainable I never told anyone.

Probably ten years later sitting around talking with some friends who lived close to where I grew up the one guy starts talking about the three red lights he saw in the sky...back about ten years ago! As crazy as it sounds we became convinced we saw the same thing on the same night. We are both logical practical thinkers but neither of us could offer a solid explanation for those lights.

Then again, I was out for a walk a few summers before the pandemic. I got to a place where the sidewalk (paved bike path) goes up and over a small hill enclosed by trees to the South and covering most of the southern sky, making it very dark. Near the top I hear voices and see a small group below the path, partway down the hill.

They called me over and pointed up and to the North, asking if I see the UFOs. I just nodded and went on. They were looking at planes at a high altitude. We see those all the time.

In the words of old Curly: "City folk!"

When I was caring for my mom and I had to call a plumber, for some reason she showed him that she could still do the splits.

My 70-some year-old grey-haired mother doing the splits on the kitchen floor wearing her pajamas and robe is definitely the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.

Although, when she raised her arms above her head with a big, victorious smile, like a gold-metal gymnast, the scene went from bizarre to inspirational.

That is amazing and your mother was obviously some sort of goddess.

70 really isn't that old. There are a lot of people that age who are very fit, limber too. Apparently your mom was one of them. 🤓 I didn't see this, but heard the story. My grandmother lived in a high rise senior building where the elevators were often out of fix. One day she had gone down to the mailbox. When she took the elevator, it stopped in between floors. Somehow she got the door open enough to jump out and roll on the floor so she wouldn't hurt herself ! She was probably closer to 80 at the time.

Ninja Grandmas. Gotta love 'em.

I lived in New York City for 15 years.

I saw a man dressed like Jesus Christ dragging a 6 foot wooden cross behind him.
I saw a 50 foot inflated gorilla balloon attached to the side of the Empire State Building.
I saw a elderly gentleman with glasses who could be seen on upper Broadway in the 70's, who every so often, would crow like a rooster.
While waiting for a subway train, I saw a person with a larger silver orb on their head, waiting for a train. The orb looked like a satellite.
I saw a person in a gas mask and a cape, roller blading really fast through the car I was riding on. Since the car's windows were all open, the person's cape was flying in the wind, like the cape of Superman.
I saw a man walking a fully grown sheep on a leash.
I saw cross dressing hookers.
I saw John and Yoko walking down upper Broadway, in 1978 or 1979.
and that was just on a random Saturday, right? I miss NYC.

When I was an older teen, I was sitting outdoors with a friend one summer night. I looked up and remarked how weird the moon looked. It was hazy in an otherwise clear sky and had a purplish hue. As we looked at it, it slowly faded away.

Well, we decided it was time to go inside, but as we were about to turn the corner of my friend's house, another larger round object came up into the sky from behind a hill. This one was multi-colored. When it got up into the middle of the sky it broke into a white light that spread overhead. That sent us yelling to the door and my friend's dad came out with us to have a look.

Just then another round object, similar to the last, came up from behind the hill. This one was green and yellow and faded away like the first one. The dad was dumbfounded.

That was it. Only a fading pinkish cloud remained. The only thing I could think of was maybe some kind of atmospheric experiment, but it sure looked and felt like something out of a nightmare.

Late one evening I went to my car that was parked in front of my house. then I noticed an amber light high in the sky slowing moving towards me. Then another light appeared that at first must have been obscured by the rooftops. Then three more lights, all moving in a level line and equal distance from each other. All 5 lights moved in line across the sky towards me.

Then the light in front suddenly changed direction by about 70'ish degrees, moving off toward my left and up at an angle of about 45 degrees. Then the 2nd light changed direction at the same point and what seemed like the same angle. Followed by the other three lights. The lights didn't change direction in unison, but as I mentioned, one at a time at the same point in the sky.

All 5 lights then continued moving in a straight line at the same angle and moving up higher until they disappeared. So there I am, standing in the street in the dark looking at them wondering what the hell are they. I thought could they be paper lanterns, which doesn't seem bizarre in itself.

If they were paper lanterns, then the bizarre thing to me was how they moved in line and suddenly and significantly changed direction one at time, then ascended in the sky. I was left thinking had I seen 5 UFO's, or 5 paper lanterns caught up in some bizarre and very localized and precise 'stream' of air in the cold winter night sky?
