Whats you favor oatmeal??

I prefer to cook my own oatmeal, usually the one minute oatmeal and then, just add nuts, coconut, dried cranberries, and other dried fruit - depending what I have in my kitchen cupboards. Usually I add cinnamon and nutmeg. A little sprinkle of nutmeg really adds something special to hot oatmeal. My husband adds a pat of butter to his hot oatmeal. I am trying to cut back on fats and sugars, so I only add a little sweetener to my oatmeal. Plus, of course, the chopped nuts and dried fruits. :)

I make porridge for breakfast quite often especially during those rather cool mornings when it is around the -28c mark..
Somehow a hot bowl of cereal in the morning seems to stick to your ribs and warm up the cockles of your heart..

I make and serve mine just plain and add some splenda brown sugar and heavy cream.. That's all !!!
I use either the one minute one or the quick one but NEVER that instant stuff.. I will cook my oatmeal................

Old fashion oats, with chopped apple cooked in, cinnamon and a dash of lowfat half n half on top....yummy on a cold morning.

I make oatmeal everyday; the old fashion kind. We usually have it with fresh blueberries and walnuts but sometimes instead of blueberries, I may go crazy and shake things up by adding other fruit. It's usually a couple of pieces of chopped apple with a dash of cinnamon, or maybe raspberries, or a few slices of banana. It's all good!

I buy the Organic Sprouted Oats from Costco. Mixed with Chia and hemp hearts and flax and cook them for 5 or 6 minutes in the microwave. Then top with fresh ginger root slices, cherry berry fruit mix, walnuts, honey, and almond milk.

Always organic since a common practice is to spray oats with weed killer right before harvest in order to harvest at a scheduled time. If the oats are not certified organic, make sure they are certified Glyphosate-Free. Crop desiccation - Wikipedia

Bingo. Me too with the blueberries, strawberries, apple, whatever fruit I have on hand. I'm not an oatmeal snob per se, but I only use the "old-fashioned" type. None of that instant stuff. I usually cook it with milk (not water) but never add additional sugar, preferring the natural sweetness of the fruit.

And nuts. Definitely gotta have nuts -- especially walnuts, but I'm not picky.

When I have oatmeal, it's the Low Sugar ready packets by Quaker. I've tried to use the plain oatmeal, but I end up having to put so much in it to make it nice that it turns into a calorie bomb.

I ate plenty of McCann's Irish oats, steel-cut, (my father referred to them as "horse oats") but switched to Bob's Red Mill in 25lb bags. It's way cheaper and more convenient to have inventory in bulk, but the Irish oats taste slightly different, slightly better.

Prep is w water, salt, flax seed, frozen blueberries, and a whole almonds. The almonds supply some protein and of course blue berries for the blue food group.

How long does it take you to go through a 25 pound bag of rolled oats?

I hate the messy pan when cooking porridge the traditional way. I've started buying the individual pots and adding some dried fruit. It makes a quick tea too when I don't want anything much.

We don't like instant oatmeal at all. I cook mine with water and never add any cream, butter, or sweetner; not that it probably would't be really good, 😄 but we try and eat healthy. I prefer the natural sweetness of the fruit too but my husband adds a tad of maple syrup in his bowl of oatmeal.

Oh, jeez, yep I forgot about the maple syrup too -- only a tad of about a tablespoon or so. Not more than that. But let me say, it's only REAL maple syrup. Aunt Jemima and Mrs. Butterworth are not invited to breakfast in my house.
