What's your experience with PayPal?

Most of my purchases are conducted through Amazon.com, so they're one of the few online enterprises that have my credit card information. I've made some online purchases of pricy items and reluctantly gave them my information. I could have used PayPal but didn't have an account set up.

There is some software that I'd like to buy -- some less than $20, but I can't get it through Amazon, and I don't trust the companies enough to buy direct, so I've been thinking about setting up a PayPal account.

Anybody have any bad experiences using PayPal?

PayPal, aside from not making it convenient for account holders to reach customer service easily by way of telephone, has always been good to us.

Last year my husband made a purchase online and paid for his purchase through PayPal, and after two months of sending emails and reaching out to contact the seller as to why his product had not arrived yet, he contacted PayPal and initiated a security resolve to his purchase, and within a few weeks had his monies 100% refunded.

My husband and I had terrible experiences with PayPal and vowed to stop using it. But because Ebay goes through PayPal and every now and then I order from them because they'll have better prices than Amazon on occasion, I wind up having to use it. A couple of other organizations use PayPal but I side step that payment method whenever I can. Over a decade ago, I got a very low credit card limit from the credit union when I first started shopping online. At that time I shopped online with trepidation so I wanted a card, that if hacked, they wouldn't have much to work with. I used that card with PayPal. I downloaded a song from iTunes, using PayPal. At that time, the music was only a dollar and there was no other charges on that card. PayPal refused to pay the charge for some unknown reason and Apple contacted me.

My husband said he had about $200 in his PayPal account when it was locked. No reason was given and he could get no satisfaction from the company when he tried to get to the bottom of it. Subsequently I read some real horror stories about people who used PayPal. Some had their payments not honored after they shipped merchandise to customers.

I had a sort-of experience that made me not want to deal with them. I mad a fairly small car purchase, under $20, from an athletic supply store, using my Disc. Card. Shortly after I got a bill for the item from PayPal, and had no account with them. I want back to the store and asked the Mgr, and he said he didn’t use Disc. because it cost more. I told him I was not happy, and either use the Disc or cancel the bill, so he cancelled the bill.
But for quite a while after I got PayPal ads, and messages click here to check your account etc. Finally they gave up but I didn’t want anything to do with them after that.

Paypal is without a doubt drop dead convenient for online payments.

However, I've had some bad bad experiences with them as an ebay seller....screw the seller / reward the crooked buyer.

...otherwise, Paypal is great. 😏

Thanks, everyone, for your responses! I guess I'll give it a try. :)

I've been using a demo version of some software for several years and feel guilty about not paying for it. That will be my first purchase with PayPal.

I use paypal, I am pleased my purchases can be refunded through paypal and I can use various methods of payment.

I sell my late husbands 1/18 scale motorcycles on E-Bay and love Pay Pal..I've never had any problems or issues. I don't keep very much in my account because I transfer money to my bank since I hardly buy anythng with the account

I've used PayPal for years and no issues. Just know that transactions are free if sending to "Friends and Family" but has a fee if doing it for "Business". So make sure you click on the right choice.

I have used PayPal as a buyer for many years, and never had a problem. It's good to shield your financial information from those you deal with through PayPal. Be wary of scams impersonating PayPal where you are told in an e-mail that your account has been locked due to suspicious activity, and asking you to verify your information by clicking on a link that the mail provides. I get one of these about every month or so, and they may often be discerned by misspelled words or poor grammar...

I have used PayPal since the 90s when it started.

In each country PayPal is a separate and individual
company run by the management, the head office
is in San José, the system seems to work well.

Never have I experienced any problems and they
will argue with a supplier if they do not treat any
customer fairly.
