When companies/products change names

I hate it when they do that, it's confusing, especially when it's a rather daft illogical new name. Like Twitter is now called X. Over the years so many changes have been made. I never knew why they changed marathon bars to Snickers - only a small example really. Or British Steel became Tata.
It must cause lots of expense and certainly confusion. I suppose there must be good reasons,?
 

In the American market , changing the name of Aunt Jamima's corn syrup was simply acknowledging how out of touch the brand name was in the 21st century. JimB.

yes there are apparently good reasons.. I've read a few, can't recall them now.. but I agree it's very irritating to know something as one name for years and then it changed to another... . One example that sticks in my mind is Nestles.. which is how we knew it since childhood... then it was changed to pronounce Nestlay...
