When did something start out badly for you but in the end turned out ok?

Public speaking. Every time I've had to give a speech in college or a presentation at work, I'd be scared to death for weeks beforehand, but I always did okay. It was never the disaster I thought it would be, but every time I had that anticipatory anxiety. If I had to give a speech for whatever reason even now, I'd be worried to death about it.

I had never given a public speech but circumstances dictated that I speak to a Rotary dinner meeting in 1991 asking for a donation from them for a community project.
I spoke for 20 minutes without notes and they were so impressed gave the funds requested.
Nervous waiting to speak but once I started, the nerves went away.

Why are my posts so damned heavy?

Coming out as gay. In the 70's, my parents were so stressed by it and sent me to a psychiatrist. He told me I was fine. Fast forward to the early 90's and they loved my partner. Over the past few years, my mother loved him more than me. ;)

Because Bretrick asks probing questions.
I have never come out. No one needs to know my proclivities.
