When It Comes To Discounts, Often It Pays To Ask

They say nothing beats a failure but a try. I started not to bother as I pulled up the renewal screen for my Aetna dental plan, but I’m glad I call ⁰ed Dental Plans to see if a discount was available. Each year since I’ve had the plan, I’d get an email before renewal time offering a discount. This year, up to the last day, I did not. The lady checked and said she could offer me 15% off the annual price of $144.95 plus give me an extra (almost) three months so that the coverage will expire in June rather than March. Most of the time when I’ve asked merchants to give me a discount (for various reasons), my request is honored.

You had better believe it. At this time of the year my motoring, home and house contents comes up for renewal. Year on year it increases, year on year I phone and argue the cost. This year, to my surprise, after hinting that the opposition could improve on the quote, I was offered almost ten percent off. Had I not argued the point, almost eighty pounds would have been in the insurer's account rather than in mine.
 
Sometimes I do, when my ancient fitbit wore out and I was on the website choosing a new one, I did the 'chat' option and asked if there was a discount and they gave me one. I was very surprised and happy.
I like to search for promo codes for online shopping also, every once in a while I'll have an item in a cart and when checking out I see the promo code field and that reminds me to search - sometimes I'll get 10 or 20 dollars off an item, which is always exciting.
 
Yes, I sometimes do. Sometimes we get one. My husband is retired military and we are seniors, so we often get discounts. I just talked Comcast down about $20 a month.
