Bad as that was, here's a nightmare that's even worse. It happened to hundreds of people last week, and was all over the newspapers and news broadcasts.
There was a huge snowstorm in the D.C. area, and highway I-95 in VA got backed up for over 24 hours. The snow couldn't be cleared because of several jackknifed trailer trucks and accidents, and people were stuck in their cars, freezing, many without food, with medical issues, without their medication, with screaming infants and chiildren, with their gas and batteries running low, etc. One senator who was on his way to the capitol to try to do something about this got stuck himself in the mess,
Some people did try to help each other, but most of them were just stuck there, with their engines turned off to try to conserve the gas, utterly miserable.
What would have happened if someone had a heart attack, or started delivering a baby? Sounds like a horror movie scenario, but it really happened.
